esp after reading the 'who on earth sleeps comfortably in a tent' thread

also dh is worried he may have to talk to people after stories of parties/ singing/ other Fun (he is misanthropic at heart)

and it might rain

and the kids might cry

and not sleep

and we might be freezing the whole time

and we haven't got a bucket to wee in yet and we need one

and we will be miles from a Happy Shopper

why do you need a bucket to wee in? Doesn't the campground have toilets?

imo kids won't cry as they enjoy the adventure, but you might not be so comfortable. Take fleeces...

florence - what? we won't be comfy? why???

we need a wee bucket In Case. dd1 is disabled so if the toilet block is a while away I am not faffing getting her there in the middle of the night

we're going as a family for the first time weekend after this one. Thats providing it stop pissing it down. I too am bricking it.

Oliveoil · 28/05/2008 14:16

I don't mean a tin box, a static caravan

we stayed on one once and it was massive

(AND WARM)

Wrennie · 28/05/2008 14:16

however, we have been practising with the kids. Ds is sleeping in a tent in his bedroom with his sleeping bag. We've all got lilo's so it should be more comfortable than on the ground as he currently is. And I made the girls sleep in their sleeping bag as well. Just so I don't get when we are there 'mommy, I don't like this'

Cappuccino · 28/05/2008 14:17

my auntie used to have a static caravan

so she could have all her holidays in a big concrete park about 15 miles from her house

and sit on square sofas all evening

sorry I was confused. I thought you might be camping in the wild with (shudder) no facilities!

IMO I am never comfortable camping as I can't sleep on the little thermarest things my DH reckons are essential camping kit, even the deluxe comfy version. the kids conk out instantly, I lie and shuffle around for ages.

we are also going camping for the first time next weekend in Dorset...I'm DREADING it Cappuccino, so can totally understand your posts. I'm PRAYING for LOADS of rain so that we can cancel, stay home and warm. Kids of course will be gutted. Dh thinks he's some sort of Indiana Jones type and looking forward to "the great outdoors"...oh come on, no-one really enjoys sitting in a wet field for two days surely. It's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of. Can't believe I've agreed to it!!

Ripeberry · 28/05/2008 17:44

Not sure if my DH is that keen on camping as he always has to be over 3hrs away, maybe so he can't chicken out?
