Best campsites in UK (for kids!)

Happy for recommendations to be UK-wide 😊 Trying to make a list of places we fancy trying! We’re in central Scotland but thinking of longer trips next spring/summer.

The “must haves”:

  • very (preschool) kid friendly - parks, beaches, entertainment, local attractions to explore, swimming pools etc (not all in one location obviously 😊 but we’d love some things to do onsite)
  • must have electric pitches for tents
  • clean, well maintained facilities

Where is the best family campsite you’ve been? Or where is on your list of places to visit? 😊

Glenmore Campsite, Loch Morlich, Aviemore.

Just let them run wild for a few days, pool in Aviemore, lots to do....

Catgill, Yorkshire Dales voted "One of Britain's top 5 coolest campsites" by the Telegraph. It's a small, family-run site in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

River Dart was amazing.
also really loved Eweleaze but it is a more basic site. Or was 15 years ago!

Cobleland, Gartmore. Woodland in the campsite where the kids run feral for days. There is a pool not too far away.

Thank you all 😊 more added to the list 😊

@Funf I should have said - we’re specifically trying to avoid the Haven type places. Have visited a few of their parks for caravan holidays and they have always been a riot unfortunately (drunk parents not looking after kids, facilities filthy, arguments between groups of adults etc) - although maybe we’ve just been unlucky.

I think the best holidays destinations start with a Calmac Ferry! I rate Islay highly for kids and Port Mor campsite, Port Charlotte, is very good (sparklingly clean, ample space). Community cafe on site, Port Charlotte a short walk away. Islay is Bike friendly (two cycling routes... between distilleries), lots of sandy beaches, woodland walks, stone arches, swimming pool at Bowmore (heated by the adjacent distillery). Optional days to Jura, Colonsay.

We're about to stay at a campsite in Cofton, Dawlish that has electric tent hook ups, soft play, inside and outside pools and other entertainment. First time staying in a tent, with our 2 year old and 2 month old, so will let you know how it is, if we survive the weekend 😂

Dawlish is amazing 😁 I think that campsite is near the Warren? We go every year and love the place. If you dont fancy driving the train line is amazing and will take you to all the holiday spots. Definitely go to Coryton Beach in Dawlish, and the Warren obviously. And Smugglers Cove at Shaldon is breathtaking and its exciting walking through the tunnel.

In a similar vein, Ladys Mile End at Dawlish Warren is fabulous. Camp site but also a self catering site with lodges, glamping, wigwams etc. Never seen any agro even when its busy. Indoor and outdoor pools, marquee in the main weeks with a play area, clubhouse, chippy, shop, kids club etc. Its really beautiful and clean and staff are excellent. Ideal location tho on a massive hill so car is essential unless you identify as a mountain goat.
