Hi , having a prob deciding which family music festival to try for.

Dd1 (14)dd2(11) are too old for kiddy things but i dont want to expose them to a really scarey festival.
Is shambala still ok for teens and is connect ok as well (not full of crusties)?
Anyone been?

Is Connect the one at Inverary? If so then it won't be full of old crusties. My dp was asking me last night if I wanted to go as it looks good. He is 29 and I'm 32.

Mind you, I suppose we are old crusties to a 14 year old and an 11 year old.

Connect didn't have many families last year, more your 25 to 40 year olds. Not so many youths. So would suit families perhaps.

Last year was bad weather and facility wise. Only one set of toilets and due to road restrictions they were only using the small shit sucker trucks to empty them so there were always some out of use. No showers just a few sinks. No permenent first aid or welfare in the campsite.

It was a much smaller and low key festival than others. One main camp field split into two sections due to a natural boundry. Very long walk from parking to campsite and just as long to the arena.

It is a very damp site, the reeds and bog in the middle give that away and I would say a tick remover from the pet shops would be essential kit.

11 and 14 years could cope with all that fine, with younger kids I would give the festival a few years to get establised and settle down. A lot will depend on the line up of bands as to who will be attracted this year. A few trendy bands and a whole set of the buckie brigade could desend.

Also be aware that the smaller festivals can have problems with tent thefts too, so never leave anything valuable have small back packs and carry anything you would miss if nicked, soggy clothes and a sleeping bag can be replaced.
