I'm not sure whether I enjoyed camping.

First of all, I felt so self conscious as the smallest tent. I can lie straight in it but that's about it.

When you return to camp at night what on earth do you do? I sat in my tent at 9pm and dreamed of being in a four or five star hotel down the road.

I fell asleep ok, but then woke to the inside of tent wet! It wasn't dripping or anything. It wasn't raining. I quickly realised this was condensation. Wtf.

I was warm enough all night and slept ok.

I felt self conscious using my camp hob there on the floor outside of my tent.

I had a chair, but I sat in my tent for a bit and must've looked like a knob to the couple sat outside their caravan across the field.

I really want to enjoy camping. I don't want to get a bigger tent yet as I want to get my money out of this one.

Where am I going wrong?

@anon666 adult den building 🤣 you've hit the nail on the head there (or more accurately the tent peg at a 45 degree angle)

I’m just learning there are campsites that don’t allow camp fires 🤯

wtf? What’s the point of camping without a firepit? What I meant to look at? How do I keep warm? Wild

It looks like I might get away for a short break late July/August in my Go Pod with the dog but was thinking about cooking. I don't really like eating out that much and was considering a BBQ of some sort. Can anyone recommend a small and lightweight BBQ that would be enough? I saw some BBQ buckets in Lidl last night but not sure how they work and if they are any good

I would love to have the courage to go camping alone, so that alone puts you miles ahead of me....maybe put up fairy lights around it, & sit outside in the evening, & enjoy the view / sunset etc....imagining being a mum parent with 4 kids in a tent opposite - I know which I would prefer! (& no offense to those with the kids - good for them). Please just enjoy the freedom & enjoy. xx (maybe do 'yoga' in the morning, wave to any 'neighbours', or ask for 'help' with anything at all - regular campers I am led to believe, love helping & showing their knowledge (again, no offense meant, who doesn't like to help out?? Shows a lovely community) 🌹.....and most of all, enjoy. Please update how it was x

Ooh yes, have plenty of experience of burnt barbecued food while camping. 🤣

The best ones are the fold down flat ones that form a triangle/inverted pyramid shaped bit. The coals go in the bottom, and as long as you wait long enough, the grill is sufficiently high to avoid complete incineration of the food.

I've not tried the bucket type, might be ok. 😬

@blobby10 I’ve got a Lotus grill that I take camping. It’s ready to cook on in about 4 minutes and is very lightweight and compact.

It’s not compulsory to enjoy camping!
