Zips are often the weak point in cheap tents. I would also consider going over the seams if you plan to go on 'proper' holidays We used to take a plastic decorating sheet when camping with our ancient MK5 as it could no longer cope with serious weather!

If it's no good, I'd suggest Decathlon for a decent spare tent.

Sorry Zippi, I was responding to sallystrawwbs pots about emergency weatherproofing for old canvas tents.
Shame about your old tent. I would be Peed off too.

Give it a go, Tesco are normally very good about returns, so if it's no good, you'll be ok.

I took 2 dcs away for a night in a cheapy Tesco tent last year. It was the little two-man dome tent and we managed to fit a double ready-bed in there that we all squeezed into, with our clothes stuffed down the sides and our wellies in the 'porch'!
Anyway, it was pouring with rain when we arrived and only stopped long enough for us to put the tent up and cook our tea on the bbq. It rained solidly all night and the little tent didn't start to leak until about 5.30am. Even then it was only a little bit, just enough to stop me being able to sleep. When I discovered that my friends' 'proper' tents were also leaking I was quite impressed with the Tesco one! It was also very warm (probably as there were 3 of us in there) and we had the door unzipped for part of the night, whereas everyone else was complaining of the cold.
I agree though that you have to be a bit careful with the zips, they don't seem too strong.
