What are we all using as a shower bag?

Often, there's nowhere to hang or rest anything in a campsite shower. I often end up with a carrier bag, but clothes end up getting wet or I rummage whilst showering and end up using finding face cream instead of shower gel (one memory I will always have of rummaging for a towel with a soapy face and wiping my face on my pants!)

There must be a solution. What's everyone's set ups?

The big blue IKEA bags are great. Nice big opening to find what you’re after.

I used the Morrisons equivalent - it sits square - waterproof.

Make sure you pack so its in the order you are going to use the things.

Can't you take your own over the door hook?

The sucker things? They fall off the wall.

I have something like this from Amazon, I think it was about £15, the hook swivels so I can hook it over the door if there’s no peg on the door. I put my clothes and towel in a separate small waterproof bag.

Get a wash bag with a hook or buy a hook. Not a sucker an over door hook.

Or leave your stuff at the mirrors and just sling your towel over the door.

Crikey that's a bit industrial, how much stuff do you have?

I've got a bucket style bag for life, which was originally purposed for recycling from a French campsite which I love, it's a throw everything in style bag (although I agree with the tip on trying to make sure that the things you need come out in the right order).

S hooks are great for camping showers, and keeping one or two in your wash bag are well worth it. Try to get everything out that you need before the shower starts. Buy a hanging up style washbag.

I also generally recommend trying to avoid getting dressed in the shower area. I mean, no-one gets dressed in their shower at home, or just outside because it is wet or steamy- you start wet and stay wet. If the campsite has cubicles where there are basins, after your shower, wrap yourself in a towel and decamp there. You will dry faster, there's often more space to place things and get organised and it means less shower queues overall for everyone.

Also consider trying a towelling robe thing. You could wear this to and from the shower block, and then getting dressed in your tent if space allows or the cubicles.

No, butchers hooks or S hooks.

I always have a few in my washbag for hanging over campsite shower doors.

And I use sturdy carrier bags. One for dry clothes, one for towel etc.

I have a clear make up bag for my travel shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel. It fits inside a hanging toiletries bag like above.
I don't get dressed in the shower, I wrap in a towel and long coat.

I have a large Cath Kidston oilcloth (waterproof) bag. It's big enough to fit in my hanging toilet bag, towel and change of clothes. It can be zipped up to keep everything dry. I also use an over the door hook.

Iheartmysmart · 08/04/2025 20:28

I’ve got an old lanyard with some small refillable travel toiletry bottles clipped to it. Worst case scenario and there’s absolutely nowhere to hang it from, I can always wear it around my neck! Clothes and towel go in a plastic bag for life.

ChorusOfDisapproval · 09/04/2025 19:57

Should add, I bought it on Vinted for £5!

Bag for life

ademanlu · 09/04/2025 20:32

I use one of these for showering - plenty of room for towel, clothes, shampoo/showergel etc https://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-waterproof-dry-bag-784313#colcode=78431310 For day to day washing I use a small Cath Kidston oilcloth bag.

We usually use the boys football boot bag (have loads of them from football camps etc) and put that in a bag for life with towel and clothes. Works well!
