Hello,

Hoping someone can give some advice and ideas to my predicament.

My new job is based near the Lake District and I work between two sites. I live across in the north east and work over 4 days, with 2 days on-site and 2 days from home. I e only been in the role for 3 months but starting to regret it due to hotel costs (which are a lot more than they are here in the NE). It's an NHS role.

I have been sleeping in the car and sometimes staying at the Travelodge or Premier Inn. This is costing me about £400 a month. Having recently learned I won't be getting full travel costs between the two sites (that I was promised on the job offer), it is obvious it's not worth me continuing in the role (yes, I'm job hunting again).

I need to stay one night a week somewhere in between Barrow and Newby Bridge. I've never really camped before or used a caravan, so I'm a bit clueless! Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to reduce costs? If I could cut out the majority of hotel bills, I would consider staying on in the role. It is my profession and what I wanted to do (and, of course, it's in a lovely part of the UK).

I'm going through a divorce (with more costs) and have two children over here in the NE. One at a NE university and the other at 6th form. Both have said they want to stay in the NE. They live between the two houses (eldest commuting to uni this year).

I've thought about a microcamper but I don't want to freeze! It's getting colder now. Has anyone got any ideas where I could plonk a small caravan, for instance???

Small van converted to camper is your best bet could you not park it at work to save costs? Problem is initial outlay would be high unless you converted it your self?

Firstly I would try a shop windowed and facebook local group post wanted room for one night every so often etc

Yes, I can park at work. I have access to toilets and sinks but no shower. Also, a kitchen.

Nissan NV200 are a very small camper, but 50+ MPG, parts are easy as the engine is used in Micra's and several other vehicles. Leisure centre for a shower

Can you put a notice up at work or on the intranet? I'm sure a member of staff would be willing to gave you stay over at theirs if it's only that often.

I’ve thought about it a lot and I think, long term, it isn’t going to work out me working there. It’s just going to cost me too much. I’ve decided to keep my current car and see if I can get an AirBnB for £50 a week while I look for another job.

That does sound like it is possibly the best solution Flowers
