Just wanted to see if we had many campervaners, now if you have a huge big white shiney one with all mod cons that doesn't count, if you spend that much on a camper why not go to a hotel .

More interested in those who have little converted vans or VW classic ones. Wondered how you manage with sleeping arrangments, we are a bit cramped, it will be better inthe summer if I use the awning and can get the kids to sleep out in it. Mine is not a full conversion, and have no fitted beds, but I want to improve on the arrangments we have.

Just being nosey really

Thank you - the Bongo Fury description made my head go round and round! Yours makes more sense - although a picture would help if you have time sometime!

We don't have a rectangular removable it in the roof above the cab - I wonder why not?!

Hello,

we have a T25 - high-top, Autosleepers conversion and have been loving it for the last couple of years.

#1 is due in June and we are in the throes of deciding whether we should get something bigger (Adria Twin is top of the list) so we can all go camping, or whether we can manage as we are.

The upstairs bed isn't big enough for grown-ups, and we already seem to be pretty crowded with just the 2 of us, so the thought of finding somewhere for a baby to sleep plus all of it's stuff.........how will it work?

Not keen on an awning.

Please forgive the hijack but have any of you bought anything from justkampers.com?

I want to buy a Cadac and they have a good deal but i don't know anything about them - are they reliable??

TIA

Astrophe · 01/05/2008 14:29

sorry dusty, I don't know.

Seeker, I will take some pics this arvo whats you email? Or you can CAT me if you like.

Is it just the metal above your cabthen?

Tallbird - I would keep whwat you have for now - you will have a better idea of what wil work for you once baby is 6 months or so I'd say.

Astrophe · 01/05/2008 14:29

oh, and tallbird, if you buy around Christmas, things will be cheaper anyway

tallbirduk · 01/05/2008 21:17

hey dusty, I have bought lots of stuff from Justkampers - both over the internet and by going up there in person - and have found them to be very reliable and very quick - from memory I think the last thing I bought mail order arrived the next day. Only gripe I have with them is that they use City Link to deliver, who I think are hopeless + their nearest depot to us is 30 miles away. A small point though.

Astrophe - good advice, and I think that's what we are going to do - see how things go, and then make a decision. We got my FIL to help fit a new 3 point seat belt in the back of our van last weekend (it only had lap belts) so we are fully prepared for the new arrival now! Well, in some respects

Anyone off away in their van this weekend? We are - can't wait.......

Campervaners - can I ask a question??

Having spent a couple of weeks in a van (ok, a motorhome) in New Zealand last year I have decided that I'd like to get a campervan when we get back to the UK. However, I have no idea what sort of thing I should be looking for or how much I should be looking to pay. I've had a cursory look on Auto Trader but would appreciate any advice you could give a van virgin. We currently have one ds but are hoping to expand our family so it would need to be suitable for longish Europe type trips with a couple of small 'uns. Any thoughts?

thanks!

dustystar · 02/05/2008 09:32

thanks tallbird - I've ordered it now

HI, We have a Ford Transit conversion and we were fine last summer when our DD was in her mosses basket we would take her in that and she would sleep fine on the seats. We then built a gate for the small bed over the cab and adapted her bassinet to go up there. However she didnt sleep very well and we found it nearly impossible on holiday to relax in the evening. It rained alot and with no awing to sit out in we had to be very quiet after 7pm when she went to sleep. We havent been away yet this year due to various reasons but are really nervous about how DD now 13mth old will sleep in the cab bed minus the bassinet 'cage' now just a gate. Any suggestions on bedding and 'anti roll out' stuff? As the camper is old and wearing out we have also been looking at a Bongo as an alternative 2nd car (as our van to awkard for city travel) for normal travel and 'camper trips' was keen to read that astrophe you have 2 kids and managing in the bongo - do you all sleep in it? or use an awing to sleep?

Bamamama I think you need to decide on you budget first then look at what you can get for that amount, then see if vans in that price range suit your needs, it really depends on how big and white and shiney you want your van. Or if you are happy with just a small step up from camping you can spend £1,000 to £50,000 well probably more I am sure but that is silly you could buy a cottage
