I want to book a week to this campsite with my ds (2.5 years) and dd (6 months). Has anyone been and can tell me if it suitable for children of these ages? I am hoping to book with the campsite directly, has anyone had experience of this. It seems to be alot cheaper than going through keycamp etc..

I went about 4 years ago. It is lovely well maintained site with a great pool area and nice playgrounds. There is a sort of village green which near the pond with trampolines, go karts and a merry go round(there may be more or different stuff now) which you pay a reasonable price for. You can buy a pass so the children aren't pestering all the time.

We went in September and all the kids clubs had finished and there was not evening entertainment. The Restaurant and takeaway were good and very useful.
You can get a train to Paris from a nearby town in which takes about a hour, and it is the same to drive to Disneyland. There is a bus leaving the campsite twice a week I think. I wouldn't go again as my kids love the kids clubs and all the dancing etc in the evenings but if you are an independent sort it is great. The nearby town Camapaigne(sp?) is lovely with great shops and restaurants. Sassions is also nearby but less swish.

Sorry, I was interrupted so many time while typing that post that I appear to have English as a second language.

thanks Chuffinnora. Did you book directly with the campsite?

Is there a supermarket to get food from nearby. Not the campsite shop, which are often expensive.

Yes!!! We went last year & have booked to go again this year!

it is fine for both those ages! Our ds was 2.5 & dd was 5.5.

There are 2 pools outside & 2 inside & a jacuzzi. The wee pools are fab for the kids, nice & shallow so they can go up & down the kids slides by themselves. My 2.5yr old was at the pool for the very first time that holiday & we went twice a day!! By the end of the week he was a pro at wading through people for a go on the slide!

There are lots of different wee parks too, we were near one at the bread shop, our caravan was just at the very edge near the washing facilities & every caravan had their own table, chairs & BBQ.

There's a lake to take a wee boat out on & the kids get life jackets to wear. Also trampolining, see-saws....

I could go on!! We loved it & would recommend it to anyone. The people were all very friendly, the entertainment was very child friendly & it was a very safe environment.

We travelled to Disney in our hire car & it was extremely easy to get to. In fact, I would recommend driving with a 6 month old, as it may be a long day if you have to wait about for a bus to take you back to the site.

The site its-self is big enough for lots of lovely long walks early evening. The restraunt is lovely, but does require booking as we found to our cost & had to wait in the pub for an hour.... I don't remember much of that night

If you have any more Qs ask away & I will try to answer them

There's a supermarche just round the corner, a big market which isn't too expensive.

Last year we booked through the travel agent & this year we booked through Keycamp.

Chuffinnora · 16/04/2008 21:07

We went with Keycamp.

There is a Intermarche in the village of Berny Riviere - a small one but has most things.
There is also a Super U or Carrefour (can't remember which) in nearby Sassions. A 15 min drive away.
The Village is a 10 min walk away and has a market on a Wed morning. (think market for things french people actually want and buy not the boden image - horsemeat, cheap clothes, sea food, cleaning products)
The village has a restaurant, a tabac, a patisserie and a pharmacy.
When are you thinking of going? - in early Sept the campsite shop was half empty and there was a strong feeling of End of Season.

WallOfSilence · 16/04/2008 21:51

We went in the middle of July & it was fab

We went to the market too & I agree... it was mostly crepes, meat, seafood, bread & pastries.... think farmers market!!

We are hoping to go in June. I hope it is not too quiet then, but not to overloaded with people, iyswim!

Do you think eurodisney is suitable for a 2.5 year old and 6 month old. Are there any rides for the 2.5 year old and places we can stop for my dd?

Are there any other restaurants in town that you recommend?

Thanks for your help

DLP might be worth a miss until your LO's are older. It is not cheap to get in - but under 3's are free I think.
We took DD when she was nearly 3 and DS last year when he was 2.5 but they love all rides and are a bit nutty.
There are lots of slow rides and gentle things but the queues...argh!

There is a Parc Asterix nearby which I believe is cheaper and quieter - might be worth a look. There is a Sea World near DLP.

Can't remember any restaurant recommendations I'm afraid. We go to France nearly every year on hols and it becomes a bit of a blur.

WallOfSilence · 16/04/2008 22:05

I wouldn't recommend DLP for your kids either.

When we went my 2.5yr old didn't get on anything. And in order for them to know he was under 3 they wanted to see his passport...which we hadn't got with us!! So we almost had to pay for him..... luckily the girls supervisor said he didn't look 3.

We went Sept last year when dd was 11months. Found it a freat campsite for her. Plenty of swings/slides etc for her. Lovely lakes on site perfect for a late afternoon stroll round, or just to lull dd off when she got tetchy. The swimming pool was fantastic, the baby pool was very large and just the right depth for dd to stand up and walk round the edge holding on. Baby slides also very good. We did spend a lot of time on the artificial beach at one of the lakes, although being Sept the lakeside cafe wasn't open. Lots of friendly ducks on the lakes so if you get a caravan near there expect a pitch invasion every morning.
We never ate out as we were mainly there for the Rugby World Cup so were on a budget, but my parents who have stayed there before have been to the cafe/restaurant down the road (Michele??). Very much a "local" restaurant where you feel you are eating in their front room, not bad for the price apparently.
Although we used the on site bakery we found the patisserie in the village better.
We did go to DLP as MIL (staying with us) is a massive disney fan. Thought it was value for money, did take dd on quite a few rides, Small small world esp being great! She did object to meeting Mickey though (MIL just HAD to take her).
We booked thru Canvas and got discount after discount on the holiday price. Mainly as both us and our parents are returned customers but also because it was out of season. Last year I know Canvas had heavily discounted holidays in June and Sept, but only if you booked a month before going
