Lakes quiet site with direct lake access

I’m close to giving up on camping due to increased noise over the last few years from partying, dogs, tvs and music systems.

Would love a campsite in The Lakes for van and tent with direct access to swim, paddle board and maybe hire kayaks. Found some at Coniston and Ullswater but so many reviews mentioning big noisy groups. Are there any options at quieter spots that are less likely to attract big groups? Bar/restaurant not required.

You've described the NT campsite at Low Wray.

I did consider it but we need to park our van next to the tent. Two sleep in the van and two in the tent (we don’t do well being on top of each other). Pitches are either tent with no parking or camper van only.

We go to Pembrokeshire every year as that’s DH’s home and we need to see his parents. Would rather do something more different for our other planned camping trip.

We saw people using a campervan and a tent at Low Wray this year. Campervan parked about 10 m from tent pitch

Oh great, that sounds positive. I do like the look of this site. Youngest had got into paddle boarding and I’d like to join her. I love open water swimming as well.

Thanks

I don't know if you can request specific sites. Certainly not all pitches would be suitable. But there were definitely sites in the woodland area where you could park a camper almost alongside a pitch. Not so sure about the meadows area.

I would also suggest Low Wray and I'm sure you can ask for a woodland site if available (friends do this as they need to have a pitch in the shade). There used to be kayak and paddle board hire there but I think that's stopped now

Low Wray lets you request a specific pitch number if it’s available. We always ask for the same woodland pitch and have had it every time. I don’t know about ones with van and tent close: the staff are so friendly though so I’d suggest giving them a ring for a chat.

We had a lakeside pitch at Waterside House campsite on Ullswater. Pitch was huge and we had a large awning attached to our Motorhome, and our kids had large tent and car on the adjoining pitch. There was a loud family nearby though, but further into the site was a quieter area with more free pitching, and if you were lucky you get lakeside access from the pitch.
