Any recommendations for a BBQ to take camping with me ? 😊

I use one of these, they can keep you warm all evening and are useful away from camping we often cook our veggie stuff on it when we are doing bigger bbqs at home.

We have a similar one but it was only about £10 from Home base last years sale
£18 in Argos https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3451656?clickPR=plp:2:55
Always use lump wood not briquets they burn much better and are easier to light. We liked this as it's easy to clean and pack away the following morning.
Remember always have a Carbon Monoxide detector in your tent and never use a Barbecue inside. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-33976414

We have this one and it's great! Packs completely flat so very easy to transport, and we usually put a couple of bit of wood on it when we've finished cooking and use it as a small campfire. Or just burn more charcoal if we're at a site that is funny about burning wood.

I've had one like this for years, I would also add get a welders mat to go underneath any bbq, it packs down small and saves the grass.

Thanks

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants a welders mat is a really great suggestion

We have a Cobb BBQ. You can pick it up with your bare hands when it’s lit so doesn’t need a mat underneath. However, they are quite bulky and not cheap. On the plus side you aren’t restricted to grilling, you can fry, boil, bake and roast.

My husband tested the CO emissions by putting it in the awning with the door shut. It took a surprisingly short time for the CO inside to reach dangerous levels.

@missshilling

Is it good for BBQing I actually have one of these ? 😊

We use ours for BBQing but if you are looking for the full burnt banger and charcoal burger experience, it's probably not the most effective way of getting it.

If you do want that, they do make a BBQ accessory kit for it.

The picture got lost when I edited for a typo.

Edit: I give up! You can see it here.

Thanks at @missshilling I think I will give that a go

I have seen them cheaper than that in other places, usually fishing related!

Do you have any experience of the Cobb pizza stone? We were going to get one but the reviews aren't that great.

I’ve got a Lotus Grill which is great. Relatively smoke free and it’s ready to cook on in about five minutes. The outside stays cool as well which is a bonus.

dogoverman · 27/06/2024 16:45

@Iheartmysmart do you get a lovely grilled flavour with the lotus grill

@missshilling the cobb has never been used so I might dust it off and give it a go

@BoudiccaOfSuburbia that looks good as well

I have the Weber Smokey Joe - have used it for years - sits outside in all weathers and no rust on it - definitely worth paying extra for it over a cheaper similar one. We often use it as a fire pit after barbecuing.

Mildura · 22/07/2024 23:29

I have the Weber Smokey Joe, and the Go Anywhere.

The Go Anywhere, in my view is better. It has a slightly larger cooking area, and the way the lower air vents are setup means it’s a bit more controllable than the Joe.
