‘’Ooh, that would be good for camping’ What have you spotted out and about?

I am meant to be rationalising and downsizing my camping kit, but we do like a new gadget!

What have you spotted in ‘ordinary’ shops that would be good?

IKEA is a treasure trove.

Last year I bought a large cheap flatware cotton rug for the bedroom area:

plus a £6 cotton rag rug for just outside the bedroom door, and an incredibly cheap very flat light doormat.

They have a little stubby washing up brush that can be filled with washing up liquid.

This little table with storage caught my eye but I decided I didn’t need it, however impressive. I already have 2 low decathlon tables.

Sainsburys have single solar stake lights often £1 each on Nectar price that are good for marking corner guy lines.

What have you spotted out and about?

Oh and I'm currently debating whether to get an airbed, at the moment we use a self inflating mat with a memory foam topper, which is okay and reasonably warm but could do with a bit more height and a little more cushioning!

Airbeds can be cold.

We are camping in Dorset nr the Devon border this summer. I shall look this company up to see if there is one nearby any of our planned trips out 👍🏻 It sounds like my kind of shop!

There's one in Newton Abbot- not close, but you know if you fancy a day trip....It's the mother ship. It has an entire separate small building dedicated to camping. Trago Mills has to be experienced to be believed 😆

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 15/05/2024 22:53

I like the sound of Trago Mills.

I have bought some cheap plastic baskets from the Pound Shop. To help with organising things in my Icey Tek coolbox.

1.5hrs drive from the campsite, but may indeed work with other outings... 🤔

@SkankingWombat
Thanks- I will get one - I just managed to put my bum through my favourite outdoor chair- it is finally time to give it up. I’m not near ‘big shops’ really but I can get to a Trago and can confirm it is a unique shopping experience!

I bought a pop up cutlery dryer after last year's pop up washing up box changed my life.

I'm also a massive convert to EHU and have an air fryer, toaster and kettle which have been game changers.

Pop up washing basket sounds great! Where was that from?

Ah we have something like that. We actually have a water carrier which is a bit like that too.

8gang extension with usb charger ports.

I bought an RAC work Light torch (£10) from Argos - in my caravan, I haven't yet worked out how to switch the lights off from my bed and sometimes I like to read in bed. This light is 200 lumens and spreads the light really well - runs on 3 AA batteries so they might not last long Grin
