Has anyone been? Is it noisy due to it being a relaxed rule free site?

It sounds wonderful, but the lack of requirement to have dogs on leads puts me off.

Yes, this worries me too.

I'd never ever go to a site that did that, even before we had DDog.

Is this the one near Lynton in North Devon? I went there last weekend with my 25 year old son in our trailer tent - it rained when we got there and when we left but had one day nice. We were only there for 2 nights so lack of EHU didn't matter. It was a proper camping site - several different areas separated by either full sized hedges or small stone walls, no big electric lights at nights, campfires allowed, children safe to roam all over the place. Decent quality toilets, showers, washing up facilites (they have freezer, fridge and microwave free to use). Free hot water. Everyone very friendly. Shop, cafe, bar/restaurant on site for breakfast through to evening meal - service slow but tbh it was such a lovely place we didn't mind. A lot of people in the area go to the cafe at the weekend for food which you need to bear in mind. There are goats to feed, turkeys and sheep to watch and ponies to ride but you aren't allowed in the stables area unless you are booked in to ride.

Walk through the cider orchards (they press their own) to the coast path or just a footpath circle and its great. Locals roads aren't great - we made the mistake of using the A39 to come back - lots of 25% inclines/declines, hairpin bends and a very slow French motorhome driver who didn't go above 29 mph for 2 hours.

Downsides -the local roads are slow, pitches mostly on a small slope except for the handful at the top of the field. My car slipped a few times as it had been rather wet before and during our stay. the access road is very potholey so go slow.

Oh and there were LOTS of dogs, mostly on leads except for the farms own dog Bosun who roams freely, is very friendly, sleeps on the sofa in the cafe area and generally keeps himself to himself unless there are friendly campers who feed him sausages!!! Some great walks around the area for dogs.

Great update!

Unfortunately ’mostly’ on leads doesn’t do it for me. I have had dogs on campsites nose about in my coolbox, get in the tent an worse..cock their leg up on my chair and blanket.
