We recently bought a caravan as we have a toddler and we love being outdoors.

If any one has any must have suggestions for UK trips please let us know! We are going into this blind and would like to be as prepared a possible!!

Thanks 😊

Lovely.

So I have one, but this year I put it on a site because I have four toddlers.

So I think of it like home. What do I need day to day.

Plastic cups, beakers, plates, cutlery by the load.

Plasters, creams, thermometer, calpol.

Toys. So we do colouring, play dough, board and card games, then outdoor stuff, buckets, spades, scooters, bikes.

Awning holds all that stuff.

Waterproofs and wellies that live in it, along with swim beach suit things.

Towels, shampoo, brush, toothbrushes and paste.

Nappies, cream, etc.

Waterproof sheets, bedding.

I don't pack many clothes I have to say. Shorts and tops, leggings, they eat in vests by tea time, if not naked. It's warm in a caravan and awning, even in Scotland.

Think about what meals you want to do. We have an air fryer in awning. Then I stir fry a lot, microwave baked potatoes, and huge picnics, lots of picnic teas.

I have a tv but it's dvd only.

Books for story nights when it's rainy.

Have fun, we love it, but are very much muddling along.

I’m sitting in my caravan right now!

Don’t travel too far. There are so many amazing places in the UK and it takes longer than you think to set up when you arrive on site. That’s no fun with a toddler who has been cooped up in the car for hours on end.

Don’t buy a load of specialised caravan gadgets and equipment. Get the essentials then do a few trips to build up a picture of what you think you need.

Think about evening. Is your toddler a sound sleeper? Caravans are small and you’re all in the same space. Have you got an awning? That helps for somewhere to sit when little one is in bed.

Get crocs. They’re great for shower block, slip them on and off easily when you’re in and out.

Think about joining one of the camping/caravan clubs.

If you’re anywhere near the SouthEast the New Forest is great. We’re currently in Kent and the beaches are lovely.

Enjoy! We love being in ours. I’d live in it all Summer if I could!

Used to have a tourer on a seasonal pitch. Loved it so much. “Posh” static now
It can get very cold at night so be prepared for that. Extra blankets sweatshirts etc.

Fairy lights in the dining area for a cosy feel.
Torches and lanterns in case of power cuts
Citronella candles and or pennies in a sandwich bag of water hung up outside to deter flies!

A sharp knife

A massive bathmat by the door for putting on/taking off shoes before you enter the caravan. Accidentally found this game changer when Camping in wales with a week of Welsh rain!

Sod the plastic glasses/cups, I take great pleasure in having my morning coffee in a proper china mug, even if you only take one for yourself, it starts my day off nicely.

Pegs, Chuck in a handful and they have a multitude of uses. Ditto bag clips

Proper pillows
