Low key campsite in Norfolk?

Fluffnutter · 25/06/2023 19:32

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a low key campsite in Norfolk (ideally North Norfolk) for August BH weekend? We are a family of 4 with an 8 and 5 year old, so looking for somewhere with plenty of space to play, and definitely need somewhere where they can play football, which is hard to judge when looking online!

Waxham Sands

This is a nice camp site. We stay at a nearby static caravan park and this camp site has been slowly evolving/improving over the past decade.

South Beach is nice for younger children.

Pinewoods in Wells next the sea

Friends gush about Kelling Heath for families.
Neighbour has several fave sites in East & West Runton for caravans.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 25/06/2023 20:23

Or Blue Skies also in Wells

Thanks for those recommendations. @tpmumtobe pretty low key but still need some other kids around for DS to play football with, so while that sounds lovely and ideal for me, maybe runs the risk of not having other kids there...

Was also going to say Waxham Sands or the one next door to it

Have a look at Baconsthorpe Meadows (Holt) and Breck Farm (Kelling)

People love Manor Farm at East Runton too.

EggInANest · 02/07/2023 15:31

Did you find anywhere, @Fluffnutter ?

Lovetotravel123 · 02/07/2023 15:56

Bylaugh Country Park. So clean and has a huge area for football.

Fluffnutter · 02/07/2023 21:49

Thanks for all your suggestions! @EggInANest no, not quite decided yet. I like the look of Baconsthope meadows as it's tent only, but not sure there is much space for football. Other wise Deer's Glade, Breck farm or Magpie meadow look good.

Waxham is awesome

Another vote for Waxham here . My three children loved it and we went year after year. So much space to play and the sand dunes just above the site. Perfect !

Fluffnutter · 09/07/2023 22:14

Thanks, Waxham does look great but it's booked up for outdated unfortunately. However we've booked Baconsthorpe meadows and really looking forward to it

Breck Farm (North Norfolk) or Diglea (West Norfolk).

Kelling Heath is lovely. Not sure about low key- it’s quite big but peaceful . Quite structured but has pool, little steam train that goes there, little fishing pond. Really enjoyed our stay there x

OhmygodDont · 27/07/2023 17:48

Bit late to the party but kelling Heath is lovely I wouldn’t call it low key thought. Break farm just next door however I would. It has a goal on a field so can play football. More chilled.

I found my children made friends and went off to play at breck farm while kelling Heath was more only if at a park didn’t really make pitch friends or anything. Also like half the price and you can still use Kelling heaths parks and walks too.

Also l the outdoor pool you can buy passes too. When it’s open. Five times I’ve stayed it’s always been closed for at least one or two days each time due to maintenance.

kellingheaths sister side wood hill on the cliff top again low key, big play area good for football.

Alby Wild Camping near Cromer. So lovely. About 20 pitches I think. Rope swing, chickens and pigs, firepits. Very friendly. We went 2 years ago.

Bemyclementine · 12/08/2023 18:30

Kelling heath is great but not low key. Dc disappear with their bikes.
Breck farm up the Rd apparemtly good and very low key.
Manor farm near Cromer also really nice, low key, walkable to the beach.

Just got back from the Hollies in Kessingland, loved the place and was a 30 sec walk to a lovely beach. Will def be going back next year
