Buying a twin axle touring caravan

We are thinking of buying a twin axle touring caravan, I have read online that some sites don't accept them.
To anyone that has one do you find you have to rule out alot of places or are you generally ok?

We had one for 6 years when the children were small. You just have to book a large pitch. Never had any issues, though we never went to those sites with rows and rows of vans.

Where will you be going? I can tell you where we had successes.

Oh really, interesting, all over the UK really.
I want to get as much use out of it as possible.
Would love to go to France in it too.

OH has been a member of the CC (CAMC) for decades and says this is news.
Thought it down to length, not axles.

We took ours over to Brittany and stayed about 40mins from St malo and all the pitches were fully serviced and large pitches for twin axles.

Think DH had a white knuckle moment driving it onto the ferry though!

I can recommend Hill of Oaks near Windermere for large fully serviced pitches and outstanding washrooms and facilities.

Also Trewithen Farm near Padstow (its grass pitches but the most fabulous spot and walking distance to the pub)

We only took ours to places that were fully serviced (you can connect to electric, your own water supply and grey drain so no faffing around with water barrels or waste barrels and non-stop hot water in the shower)

We have a twin axle, never had any issues. Just put the length of the van into the form when booking so we get a pitch that it will fit on.
I find it much more stable to tow than a single axle.

Great thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks, that's good to hear.

The only thing you need is a heavy tow car, ideally your fully laden caravan should be no more than 85% of the weight of your car.
