Campsite booking in France

Is there a good booking website for campsites in France? Or is it a matter of Google maps and then following up separately with each option to check facilities and availability? Have we left it too late to book a decent family campsite for this summer? Looking to go somewhere no more then 3 hours from Calais.

Eurocamp

What sort of accommodation? And what facilities do you want?

DogDaysNeverEnd · 12/06/2022 10:16

If it's for your own tent/camper/caravan then pitchup has listings but not of everything. I just used Google map to search in areas I was interested in. This week I've booked 2 campsites direct for a week each so there are spaces available.

Depending what sort of campsite you want, you could try the bigger chains: Yelloh, Siblu, Huttopia, Sandaya, Castels all have websites with different campsites around the country. These tend to be larger sites with lots

www.pitchup.com has a France section or there are some on www.hipcamp.com used to be Cool Camping.

If you want somewjere smaller just Google camping in the region you want and use Google maps, or the tourist office for the area you are searching.

If you just want a pitch you will definitely be able to get one. If you're looking for accommodation your options might be more limited in the summer holidays. There is likely to be more availability towards the end of summer.

I've been looking on Yelloh, looks cheaper than a lot of Eurocamp...

artisanbread · 12/06/2022 10:23

Eurocamp doesn't have its own sites, it just has accommodation on a number of existing sites. It's almost always cheaper to book directly through the campsite.

We are staying at the eurocamp near Paris in August. Reviews are really good, we have had friends visit previously too. Still availability on the website as I looked the other day to see if the price had changed (it had but not much, currently £100 cheaper than we paid)

camping france has a variety of sites from small to chains, and has a useful search facility. I use this to get the names of campsites and then see if they have a direct website to book.

I have also used the camping quality site.

ANWB which is a Dutch based search (in English) is also quite comprehensive.

I have camped quite a bit in France and now only stay (where possible) in Yelloh Campsites. Their standard is always high, their website really easy to navigate and I've never been less than really happy with my experiences.

StarMixer · 12/06/2022 19:04

Thanks! You're all stars. We taking our tent so thankfully lots of options for us to choose from these suggestions.

I'm so glad you said that, I'm going to my first Yelloh this year.

ohnoryanair · 13/06/2022 05:59

I have booked directly with Yelloh! this year too. So pleased to see pp remarks.

I will say the eurocamp site is good for getting ideas and comparing campsites, provides a good overview of each. At some camps eurocamp will run their own kids camps etc

NCTDN · 16/06/2022 16:55

We always use eurocamp and eurocampings for ideas, then book directly with the site.
