We used ours to
-charge handheld electronics like phones, the Switch, iPads while we sleep
-run a few strings of fairy lights so not stumbling in the dark if you need to get up in the night
-run the handheld air mattress inflater

it can also be used to power a camping fridge, but be warned these only cool things up to 20C below outside temperature so not cool enough to refrigerate things properly if camping on the continent. Usually ok if camping in U.K. when not a heat wave.

We take a plug in cool box and a camping heater for cold evenings.

BobLep0nge · 08/06/2022 00:04

We take a portable electric heater and give it a quick blast before bed.

We've got a camping kettle and a small fan heater - you have to check that the Watts are low enough though! The campsite can tell you how many amps the supply is, then you convert this to maximum Watts.

Definitely a travel kettle. Much faster than gas for first brew.

Electric camping fridge for cold wine.

Same sorts of things as above: plug in cool box, travel kettle, lights, a portable induction hob, a hairdryer, and toothbrush and phone chargers. Love it!

Cool box, air bed and charging for us. DH wants to take a kettle, but I'm happy to wait for the camping one.

I know people who take kettles, toasters, heaters, hairdryers... may as well just go SC somewhere rather than trying to replicate being at home!

You're definitely in no TV in tent camp then?

I take my hairdryer because I like my hair to look good and most places I've been have a plug socket in the wash blocks. And if you have the means to keep warm why not take a fan heater?

I like home comforts, field or five star (and take my hairdryer to hotels too because it's better than any other hairdryer)

Electric heater, charging cables for phones, kettle if you want to.

Silverbirch2 · 13/06/2022 18:40

So camping in middle of August-do you think I need to buy a heater?

Cornwall tonight drops to around 13°c. I don't think you'll need one. It will be much warmer in your tent.

cooliebrown · 17/06/2022 09:57

we saved loads of camping gas by taking an electric kettle

we also took our soupmaker, which I thought was a waste of space, but we used it every day

Why have I never thought of this!

We use our EHU for electric coolbox, slow cooker, inflating the beds, and charging everything that is rechargeable - lights, phones, wifi dongle, tablets etc. Our fairy lighs are battery!

Ylvamoon · 18/06/2022 10:54

No to electric cool bag, yes to a mini fridge!
