First time ever.. I've decided me and the kids (11&9) are off camping round wales.. any tips? Nice places? I've got a tent, camping chairs and camping tables, mats / sleeping bags / beds lights / torches.. this is totally out my comfort zone so any help would be great!

Llech is a lovely small, friendly campsite with excellent views. You can hire a fire pit with a fire starting kit for £10 for the duration of your stay. There’s a little shop onsite that’s open for just a few hours each day, selling the basics (in case you forget anything!) plus coffees, ice creams, soft drinks etc…
Dol Llys Farm is right on the banks of a river and throughout the summer campers paddle and swim in the river, so take a rubber ring or a small dinghy and beach shoes if you have them. There’s also lots of space for ball games and a campers’ kitchen with microwave, kettle etc… should you need it.

You need midge repellent…

PandaOrLion · 07/06/2022 06:31

What part of wales would you like to go to? Where is accessible from you and has things to do nearby that you’re interested in?

We tend to do Black Rock Beach or Rhossilli depending if we want to surf or not but they are opposite sides of wales so it’s also dependent on how long we want to be in the car for.

Forpoxsake · 07/06/2022 06:36

Anywhere along the gower is lovely but as PP said it depends what you’re after, where you want to go, where you’re travelling from

mumonthehill · 07/06/2022 06:44

Where do you want to go in Wales? Many of the most popular campsites will be booked by now but if you narrow it down a bit we might be able to help! Also pack clothes for all weathers!!!

I'm coming from Kent, stopping halfway then heading to the Brecon Beacons for 3 nights, then down towards Pembrokeshire for 3 nights .. I'm easy, just never been to wales! Don't mind a drive and don't mind breaking it up.

Fforestfields for your mid wales stop, it’s the most well run campsite we’ve stayed on.

We live in the south so don’t tend to camp down here but I’ve heard good things about Nicholaston Farm and Three Cliffs Campsite on Gower (and the beaches are beautiful) or in Pembrokeshire Gupton Farm (NT) gets good reviews and it’s across the dunes from Freshwater West.

mumonthehill · 08/06/2022 07:01

For Pembrokeshire I would look between st David’s and Cardigan as a lovely bit of coast and much less busy and rowdy than Tenby. Quite a few smaller sites in that area which might suit you.

feliznavidad2 · 08/06/2022 07:18

www.brandybrookcampsite.co.uk/ - we used to go here when I was a teen, it's lovely, really off the beaten track and quite basic but just so tranquil. It's in Pembrokeshire.

MummyGummy · 08/06/2022 13:45

Three cliffs bay campsite is lovely, bit of a trek down to the beach but should be fine with older children and it means you get amazing views from the campsite.

Theres a great boat tour from St David’s that takes you round some of the islands.

The North has a lot more to see and do closer together.
Some ideas here

I would look at Llandudno, Criccieth Harlech, totally different and not too far apart

Thank you! This is a fabulous website with some great information. We are heading that way on the final part of our trip and love a castle and heritage 🤩

Can second Gupton farm in pembrokeshire - nice site close to stunning beach. (Site of dobbys grave if kids like Harry Potter). Nowhere near anything else though so you'll have to drive for shops / pubs / takeaways. Eo many nice places and other beaches to visit in that area too.

Not camped in many other areas you've mentioned but I have heard good things about Forest fields mentioned above in mid wales, and if you decide to stop in the Gower too i know there are loads of decent campsites to choose from. Plenty of reviews in sites like pitch up usually.
