how long are you staying?
how much cooking will you be doing vs eating out?
when & where in Fr (cause you will need less clothes if hot)?
is the 2yo still in nappies?

I'd imagine at least two large cases between you plus an item of hand luggage each. Would it not be easier to drive?

Berrie · 06/01/2008 13:46

Thanks Mrs Badger...not a useful amount of info was there?

2 year old in nappies at the moment. Going in June to mid west France so hoping it will be hot. Have never done it before but imagine we'll eat at the tent a lot as short of cash. I've booked 2 cases now but I think I can change it if I need to. I just can't face the long drive with the children.

What will your transport be in France?

We got to decent sized wheely cases and two med sized ones. Get straps and piggy back the med one onto the bigger one.

BUT we weren't away in the summer so had jeans jumpers jackets and all that too. Check about bedding!

Take enough clothes for a week, accept you will spend one day at the laundry room and accept your kids might be a bit manky and you could take two cases only.

Packpack each for the kids to carry on with all stuff to amuse them on board.

Berrie · 06/01/2008 14:58

Thanks. We'll get a taxi from the airport. I forgot about the bedding...

hire as much as you can there - you can rent linen and/or towel packs in lots of places (check the brochure)

check the weather patterns online somewhere - may not be as hot as you think

and def spend a day in the laundry

Lucycat · 06/01/2008 15:27

will you be hiring a car? as then you won't have to worry about the nappies - they can be picked up at the hypermarket....

either that or get yourself (or rather your dd!) onto one of Cod's toilet training threads before then

Blandmum · 06/01/2008 15:37

Most of the sites that offer fly drive, will also offer bedding packs, this would cut down the amount of space taken up by sheets etc in you luggage, but will have a cost implication

Remember that the site will have laundru facilities, so you don't need 2 weeks woirth of clothing.....but this will mean you have to do some work while away

Berrie · 06/01/2008 15:55

Thanks all.I Don't mind doing laundry but keep thinking of things we might want to take like the sun tent, cycle helmets.
Does anyone know about taxis and child seats/no child seats in France?

Will look at toilet training too!

Don't bank on it being v hot in June, make sure you take some warmer, waterproof clothing, particularly for the evenings

Berrie · 06/01/2008 17:25

Oh really? That's why we are not going to Cornwall this year... Couldn't afford summer holidays if we wanted to and DS starts school this year so September out from now on.
