We went away a couple of times last year but left it so late booking that our preferred places were fully booked for all BH weekends. Just about to book some for this year but thought that i would ask for your recommendations first??

we are two adults and two kids (age 7 and 4)- our tent is a Vango Diablo 900 which resembles a marquee.

many thanks

this place in newcastle Emlyn in South wales is fantastic. Small, quiet, with the nicest owners I have even come across. There is a tiny barn conversion pub on site, just for campers a few times a week.

I posted one of the reviews. It is one of the best places I have ever stayed

I've only been to a few campsites in your area so can't recommend anything but try looking here the reviews will give a good idea of what it's like.

Waldegraves in Mersea Island Essex. Near beach (pebbles), got a swimming pool, playground, lovely clean showers and toilets, good shop, pub and restaurant.
We go to hesfes there every year.

Gingerbabe - the the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Folkestone Warren. We love it - and for us it has the disticy advantage of only being 40 minutes away from home if the weather turns!

Old brick kilns, Barney, Norfolk.

Lovely camping field with lots of kids all playing together in the middle.

Anywhere on the Gower if fantastic! The hollybush in Hay on Way is great (There's a pub there!) but you need a car. If you want to go abroad I recomend Tavira in the Algarve, the campsite is on a sandbank island off the mainland, so you have to either get on the ferry ( a very small boat!) or a water taxi (a speed boat), the town is fantastic and the council put on loads of stuff throughout the year, We spent a very happy night watching Hard Days Night dubed into portugese in an ope air cinema and then ball room danceing to an organist in the main town square til the early hours!

Surprisingly Cardiff has a very good and reasonably priced campsite surrounded by parkland, but also so central the houses cost well over £300,000 to buy!

Blackberry farm, near Brighton.

Tom's field in Dorset.

Anywhere in the new forest.

We're going to Blckberry Farm at half term - is it a lovely as it looks?

OverRated · 09/01/2008 05:36

Serin - that was the first place I ever camped. Was fab. It's been updated since but I have very fond memories of it.

The campsite at Stiffkey, Norfolk is great too - my favourite place.

Tiredemma - are you looking at any particular part of the country?

Spidermama · 09/01/2008 13:28

Seeker Blackberry Farm is really lovely. Very popular too. You did well to book it.
