Do you have tent carpet or rugs in your tents? How do you organise the living area?

Tent carpet. Clothes in fabric folding IKEA shaped boxes. Laundry hamper.

Tent carpet. Camp cupboard/stacking boxes. Box by door for shoes. Hanging pocket thing for small items.

Brilliant exactly the tips I need- thank you. So tent carpet is a must?

We have a tent carpet and a camping cupboard. I also take collapsible plastic crates which we slide under the camp beds to store stuff in, we've got two collapsible tray tables which we put stuff on and for DD to have her breakfast on.

The tent carpets really make a difference at night when it's colder.

I use thermal foil runners with picnic blankets over them in the bedroom to keep it warmer and then just picnic blankets on the living area. I have lidded storage boxes that stack in the porch area and then a small camping table

One lidded box per person for clothes and bits and bobs. It keeps everything tidy too.

If your car is by your tent, keep all shoes in a box in the boot and also kerp your suitcases of clothing there. We used to grab new outfits, change in the tent, then put the dirty clothing straight into a wash bag.

Yes to tent carpet. Box for shoes. One big Aldi bag for life each for clothes and stuff - squashy so can fill the gaps/pack around fixed shape things in the car. My tent has hanging pockets in the living area and I have a ‘cupboard’ thing with a tabletop for food/basin/kitcheny things.

I have purchased 2 door mats for my tents, that DH has appropriated for the house. But they were very useful at the tent doors when I still had them (DH doesn't camp).

I have large duffels (sailing bags and rucksacks) for my clothes, but a fellow scout leader uses blue ikea bags for family camping - 1 per kid. Large enough to hold everything, relatively confined. But allows each kid to root for what they need, parents to throw loose things at the right bag to tidy tent in a hurry etc.

And I have a large cheap plastic tub from ikea to hold all my bigger kitchen gear, and a smaller one (22l) to hold my knives and utensils.

My genius stroke was getting DH in a separate tent. He's the one who makes the most mess so containing him elsewhere has made it much pleasanter for me 😄

We have a box for each person with clothes, sleeping bag and towels in so that when on site there is only clothes in there so plenty of room to look for stuff.

I take trugs for games and washing up as they stack easily. In the car they sit in between the kids with their toys, drinks and snacks in and can then be separated on site. We always camp with friends and the rule is that kids do the washing up so trugs are good as they are easy to carry with someone holding each handle.

Tent carpets are a must!
