bell tent advice - HELP!

We have a big bell tent which needs professional cleaning after a mould issue (long story). Only problem is, we cut a hole for the stove flue when we first bought it which has raw edges where we cut it (we followed the instructions from the company we bought it from. We couldn't get it done professionally when we bought it as there was such a huge waiting list at the time).

I've contacted the tent cleaning company who say they will give it a go and hope for the best but can't guarantee there won't be damage/fraying where the hole is. I've contacted a company who mend tents to ask their advice about if it would ruin the tent to have it cleaned in its current condition and they say they can't advise but it would cost well over £100 to fix the raw edges at this point before it's cleaned. The tent cleaning itself costs several hundred pounds.

So, has anyone ANY knowledge - will having it cleaned with the raw edges ruin the hole for the flue? Do we need to get the edges fixed first before cleaning or will it be ok as it is? I don't know where else to turn as all I'm hearing is 'up to you, give it a go and hope' and I don't want to ruin a one year old tent that cost over £1500!

You cut a hole and didn't fix the raw edges. It's a bit late to hope to avoid ruining it if you don't pay to have the edges fixed.

Pay to get the edges fixed, then pay to get it cleaned. The first is just a cost you deferred when you cut the hole yourself the first time.
