Recommend a campsite for solo camping with kids

I'm a camping novice and want to take my two DC (11 and 7) away for a couple of nights. I need somewhere that's safe to leave them while I pop to the loo or shower and with very clean facilities. A little shop/cafe on or nearby would also be helpful so I haven't got to cook every meal!

Can anyone suggest anywhere within an hour and a half of Berkshire? Any top tips for solo camping?

Cotswold View is one of the most family-friendly campsites I know. There’s loads to do onsite including disc golf, tennis, games room, zip wire and bowling alley. The wash block has family rooms. The Old Shed cafe is within easy strolling distance and does a great breakfast or lunch.

East Fleet Farm in Weymouth is lovely.
We’ve camped there a few times and always feel safe- lots of families about too. The owners are fabulous and very helpful.
There’s an amazing shop, takeaway and pub selling meals on site.

Not sure how far it is from you but we’re in Berkshire too and it’s an easy journey.

Thank you for your recommendations. They were fully booked for the dates I wanted but have made a note and will book early next year! I managed to get a night at Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm - £40 for a night and includes tickets for each day in the farm park! Reviews are great so fingers crossed.

I was going to recommend East Fleet Farm too! I took the kids on my own last year. Loved having an on-site camping shop for any bits I’d forgotten, and the pub was great as I could order drinks on the app and sit outside watching the kids play. The on-site food trucks were also really handy, as it meant I could take the porch and kitchen down the night before we left, to make the final packing up job a bit easier. And the kids made loads of friends at the park —so I hardly saw them—

That sounds absolutely prefect! Great to know you took the DC on your own and all had a good time!

Adam Henson’s sounds good too! Let us know how it goes - I might check it out for next year.

Kelling Heath in Norfolk, they allocate you a pitch but you can contact them to be moved somewhere more convenient

Been a single mum camper for years, that place is perfect for us!

Feesh we had a brilliant time and we'll definitely be going back. Wardens were ace, checked on us at 9pm to make sure we knew there was a weather warning - wondered why everyone was packing up to go home! We decided to stay and were fine. There was a microwave, kettles and toaster and the toilets and showers were immaculate. Farm entrance was included in the camping fees and was particularly suited to young children but my 11 and 7 year old enjoyed it. Meals available from restaurant if you wanted a break from cooking. Ice creams were huge and very reasonably priced. Wish we'd spent more than one night there!

Alan Rogers have a excellent resource worth buying, the annual campsite directory book that comes out each year. Or you can check their website to find out more.
