Camping near Inverness

Does anyone have any knowledge of good campsites in the Inverness/Culloden area?

We are two medium size tents, and would like a shower block, loos (compost loos are fine), lockers for recharging phones etc.

We've obviously googled and I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of choice. I'm sure they are all lovely but was hoping for some fields next to the Spey, or farmers with fields on the side of mountains.

Anyone got any lovely finds?

Thank you

You know the Spey isn’t in inverness right?

Yes
We're coming from Kent so want to explore that area of the Highlands ... anywhere from Inverness down the A9 to Carrbridge. Anywhere in that area.

We are currently in Foyers on the south bank of Loch Ness and it has a lovely campsite. It is about 35 minutes from Inverness.

Do you mean the river Ness?

Glenmore in Aviemore is vg. In a wood next to Loch Morlich which can be busy but plenty of space. Very popular.

Try googling Abriachan camping and see if anything comes up. That's above Loch Ness and there may be a croft doing camping/glamping.

Placemarking as I'm after visiting Culloden and was thinking of camping too.

There’s a lovely site near Loch Morlich called GlenMore. Also if you fancy going east there’s a great site at Lossiemouth. Or Aberdeen way the Ballater site is beautiful.

Another vote for Glenmore. Well run site surrounded by nature.

just a word of warning re Glenmore. we went in August a few years back and the combination of forest and water meant it was midge central. there were so many of them it was impossible to sit out at night.

I also got hit by falling squirrels there.

2 red ones were fighting/having sex (I'm always getting those muddled up) in the tree above me and fell down. Might be less common than the midges.
