Suggestions of camps like Nethergong

We've just got back from a fantastic trip to Nethergong in Kent.

I'm already planning our next break and looking for a place that has a similar vibe.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places set in woods/countryside, that has lots of space (not squeezed in pitches on a field) and within a half an hour drive of beaches?

Areas wise we are in Wiltshire so ideally no more than a three hour drive.

In the spirit of sharing, one site we have been to that's great is Nicholaston in Wales, direct access to a gorgeous beach and heated flooring in the shower blocks! No fires though which as a shame.

Sorry to jump on your thread empty handed in terms of recommendations but we're heading to nethergong soon for our first ever camping trip.

Do you have any recommendations you wouldn't mind sharing? Any must-dos? Or any advice at all?

Many thanks

Of course!

We liked having a wander around Whitstable, about 20 mins from the site and lots of shops and cafes there.

Don't bother with the Roman fort nearby, it was ok, but not as good as other English Heritage sites in my opinion.

For an old fashioned seaside place, with arcades etc, is Herne Bay. It's a shingle beach with a lifeguard watching if kids want to swim like ours did.

We camped in the old wood I think it was called, quieter area and near the least busy facilities, would definitely recommend.

Also definitely hire the fire pit, it's £7.50 for the duration of your stay, can either take logs or buy there. You can preorder it in advance.

We loved toasting marshmallows every evening after dinner!

For camping in the forest with lots of outdoors activities you can’t beat the new forest
