For me and 2 DC (young primary age) . Preferably a site with plenty of facilities. No idea if specific area, I've never been!

People like the National Trust Low Wray site or Kestrel camping.
Or Sykeside.

But I haven’t been.

By ‘facilities’ do you mean showers etc, or pool, playground, bar? Not sure the Lake District really has those sort of sites.

ImFree2doasiwant · 31/05/2021 10:38

Yes, if like showers and toilets, abd would love a playground! Possibly a pop up food outlet? I'm conscious that my car is small, and I will struggle to take as much as many people seem to.

Sykeside is a beautiful site but when I went there it was a complete bog fest. The most wonderful sausages from the on-site shop- sad but we still talk about them nowGrin

Some area info here

Only one we have stayed in is just outside the Lakes, between Silverdale and Arnside, it was fantastic but not cheap
We often went in the winter.

Low Wray is amazing, fantastic views from the camp and small park for kids.

I’d definitely recommend Fisherground

seconding Fisherground. play park, decent toilet block, fires allowed and a pub 10 mins walk away

We are going here to waterside farm campsite next week, on a lakeside pitch. Seems to tick most of your boxes?

LittleRa · 13/06/2021 07:25

Came on to say Low Wray

We have just come back from Waterside, it was perfect for us. We had a lakeside premium pitch but the family field is lovely and flat, or you can get a non electric lakeside further in if lucky (first come, pitch where you like unless electric).
The on-site cafe is good (pizzas and lots more). Small shop also on site, ans a small playground area. Pooley bridge is a short flat walk along the lake where the most amazing ice creams are sold in the village stores.
You can hire paddle boards, we took an inflatable board and double kayak. The water is so clean, but rocky so you need water shoes.
This is the sunset view from our pitch!

Sykeside - yes about the sausages! There's a good pub onsite too and separate dog walking paddock.

Waterside is very good too.
