First aid kit
Local vet number /address

Our puppy has a medical condition so I'm always thinking of these!

Earplugs? Our dog (cavalier King Charles) snores so so so loudly. Grin

If you can, pitch your tent up in the garden and give your dog a chance to explore it and get used to it well in advance of your trip.

These are great thanks all so much - just hoping he doesn't react to every sound outside the tent at night!

The screw-things are great, but if you hadn't already got it I would have suggested the straight spike - it's easier to get into hard ground as you can hammer it in like a mallet. And it's just as secure as the dog will be pulling sideways, not upwards. The best lines for using with these are the steel-cored type, they're chew-proof.

Collar and tag should stay on all the time, including at night.

Decide where you want the dog to be sleeping, and try and stick to that decision. It turns out a 20kg Staffy can share a mummy-type sleeping bag with a grown adult when they choose to - wriggling down from the top. Partially unzipping the foot of the sleeping bag let them poke their head out.

Tick remover. Vital at this time of year.

That's brilliant advice! Oh nooo that's hilarious but sure it wasn't at the time! Just hoping he doesn't react to every noise at night outside the tent! We shall see!

So we bought a windbreak last year when we went to the beach for shade for us and our dog. We also used it down one side of the tent where he chilled out in the day to make some shade too as depending on where your tent is facing you could be in full sun. My whippet was only 5 months when we went last year and we took his crate as he still sleeps in it as we will do this year too. We have a blackout cover and he loves his bed and was good to keep to a familiar bed for him...and stopped him wandering about the tent and waking up early.

Screwy things in the ground are good, towel, usual water bowl, food bowl, portable water bowl water bottle thingy, poo bags and we also take a portable canvassy crate as couldn’t be done with a wet dog roaming freely round the tent for him to sleep in or if he’s wet.
