Camping abroad

We are a family of 5, kids will be 9, almost 7 and almost 5 at the time. We are hoping to get away to France next year camping. Just wondering if people take their own tent or do you hire a tent/caravan? We are hoping to visit at least 2 different campsite and camp often in the UK but is there anything I really need to consider for camping abroad, I'd hope to rent a fridge. Thanks everyone

@TSBelliot

Beware once I started camping in France I somehow never got round to camping in the uk again. It was never the same without the weather, the bread and the pools...
Ha ha, that’s the same for us too. Once we camped in France we never wanted to camp in UK again! Now I am dreaming of getting back to France as soon as we can....

Another French camping fan...after 2 weeks in Dorset one year where it rained for 9 days.....never again!
I camp in the UK as well but never longer than a week and not my main trip...
Take our own tent and hire fridge....favourite trip eurostar to avignon...hire car and enjoy South of France....campsite mas Nicholas...simple but spotless and quiet..walk to st remy for markets/ice cream loads to see in area...
Can't wait to go back to France...
Went to Cornwall last year instead....bloody miserable weather awful ....don't decide based on Cornish trip:) ....

www.camping-jablines.com/campsite-france-paris.html Is another option for a Disneyland campsite (has a shuttle bus and is on a large lake).

I would recommend a visit to the Puy du Fou if you are in the Vendee region, a fantastic park with huge immersive shows, eg gladiators chariot racing, Viking ships sinking etc

I think the campsite above is a much better option, closer with shuttle

Plus you could travel into the city to visit main sites

If you stay inland then just south of Orleans is a beautiful area for visiting and not a long drive either.

What do you like doing on holiday? Castles? Cycling?

If you go after 21/8 or there about s the price drops as the season changes

Ile de rae is a wonderful place with over 100km of cycle tracks to safely ride on with 7 year olds and you ca hire bikes

Beaches are magnificent

It’s the place with the most sunshine and least rain

But the prices in supermarkets are very high, Parisians make it a busy place in July /August

I lived it camping one Easter there it was wonderful especially with children under 10
