Nice extras for camping

We have booked a basic pod this weekend in North Yorkshire. DD (5) never been camping before so she's really excited and has high expectations! It's our 1st wedding anniversary but can't do much due to covid restrictions so this is our celebration.

We have all the basic things we need to take (pod has bed bases, electricity, a light, a kettle and heater).

Can anyone suggest anything we can take/do to make it feel nice and special? I've got some fairy lights and glow sticks for dd, hot chocolate and marshmallows for the fire pit. Any great recipes for treats to make over fire apart from marshmallows?

Banana split down the middle, put chunks of chocolate and marshmallows and wrap in foil, put on embers for a few mins.

Baked apples.

My kids really like the foaming body wash I got one year when they were little and always call it camp luxury wash!

You can get magic power to go on the fire when you've finished cooking- it turns the flames pretty colours.

Hotdog octopuses- it's. Hard to explain but you cut a cross on each end of the hot dog and the skewer goes through the middle so that as you toast it the ends curl into the middle and it looks like it has 8 legs.

Ring doughnut, slice horizontally, put a ring of chocolate buttons in, wrap in foil, put on bbq! Choc melts, sugar crystallises to give crunchy outside!!

Amazing!! This is exactly what kind of thing I was hoping for, thank you Grin

Get some citronella candles too if you can. Keeps the flying bugs away from your sweet treats ☺️

Great tip, thank you. I've ordered some and some citronella incense sticks Smile

Take lots of snuggly blankets and warm clothes so you can be outside as much as possible. Check what chairs are provided in case you need camping chairs - I've seen some pods with tree stumps to sit on - they look lovely and rustic but I can't imagine relaxing for an evening like that.

How about some popping corn and an old saucepan (with a lid!). Might be fun to do on the campfire.

Dough twists. Pretty much flour, a bit of sugar and water. Roll into snake shapes, wrap round a skewer and cook. Serve with jam or chocolate spread to dip in. We have telescopic toasting forks now as we make campfire treats most camping trips if we can have a fire.

Hot water bottles!

We stayed in a camping pod last October half term. We took two carved pumpkins and put them on the deck out front with tea lights inside.
Sparklers are nice wave around while you are by the fire for the fireworks vibe.
Nice hot choc with spray cream to warm up after a cold day out?
