Hi all.

Looking to book eurocamp next year, aiming for France, not keen (on driving) lower than Vendee. Think of les ecureuiles at st hilaire de Rez. Anyone have any experience? Is the beach ok for little ones? 6&8 years old?
Thanks

Haven't been to that exact one...did a few miles south. The beaches are all lovely in that region. Things to do, like Puy de Fou etc.

The only thing is that we found the weather in August could still be changeable. Had some dull days and also rain although better than the UK. They did say it had been a poor year despite us going twice.

What is nice is that you are not getting the blistering sun that south Spain and places like Greece have.

Where are you travelling from as it is possible to do it in a day if you use the Eurotunnel as the roads are so clear and fast in France

Yes!!! We've been there I think 3 times. Great camp site!!! Shop on site but also there's a close super market. Beach easy walking distance for your kids. Pools are lovely including the indoor one for rainy days. Nice playground.

DS loved it there, first went when he was 4 & he did kids clubs.

Great local areas to explore.

Book Squirrel-Town!

And yes the beach is perfect for kids. Plenty of space, the tide goes out leaving little bathing areas. Lots of exploring to do & a mixture of dry sand high up & wet sand low down. If that makes sense.

That's all really helpful info thanks a lot. We were thinking to do Portsmouth to St Malo to try to cut the driving down, and also make an adventure out of the ferry for the kids. But will take a look at drive times from other ports and maybe the price will swing it!

We always do one fo the Brittany ferry routes from Plymouth or Portsmouth - we're in wales so getting to Dover or Folkestone is a real mission and then with a short crossing, you don't get much of a break before you have to start driving again (don't even get to leave your car if you tunnel). Portsmouth - st Malo is fab, but is more expensive as it's a nights accommodation as well. Plymouth - roscoff is a day time crossing that often works as well and the added bonus that you can make the most of the extra summer entertainment on board during summer months (magicians and shows for kids etc)

Lovely beach and site, we booked direct with the site as cheaper than eurocamp. My kids are not fans of kids clubs and the activities on offer were not dynamic so I don't regret that decision. We did 7 day break and then went to poy Dr foy for a few days, it was remarkable !

It is an easy drive from calais in 6-7 hours with shortish stops. Never had any traffic when using the toll roads. Just depends therefore where you live. If you are Portsmouth/Plymouth way then it makes sense to get the ferry
