I'm fed up with the lock down and just want to be out and about.

In my dream we're camping in North Yorkshire. The fire is going and I'm looking out over the hills and planning a walk in the morning with a pub lunch.

In the meantime I have a glass of wine, the fire is keeping us cosy and I'm looking forward to a fried egg sandwich in the morning and a big cup of tea.

Anyone else?

That sounds like absolute heaven. The smell of the tent, the sound of the sleeping bag zipping up and getting super cosy and calm.

So tranquil (assuming when DH puts up the tent and he doesn't realise I've burnt a massive hole in the floor with a frying pan and never told him about it.. Wine)

My husband says the tents going up in the Garden May Day weekend, for a pretend holiday 😀😀😀

I’ve got kippers ready for the bbq for breakfast, served with grilled tomatoes and a huge mug of hot tea.

I’m also having wine tonight, but red as I only have a small camping fridge. I’m looking at the stars now. There are so many when you’re out of the city.

I'm actually camping in the garden tonight with 4yr old dd. Last night it was with her 6yr old sister.

Funny listening to your street/garden in the night.

We've got a caravan and I really miss being away in it.

My dh is in our nice warm bed whilst I'm awake with a sleeping dd wiggling keeping me awake.

Can't wait for crispy bacon sandwich and hot coffee in the morning

RomaineCalm · 26/04/2020 10:05

I think I can smell your kippers Duchess - lovely!

And yes to the sound of everyone 'zipping in' for the night.

Hope you survived the night NowthereisTwo.

There is something very nice about being up in the morning before everyone else, sitting outside with a huge cuppa and a biscuit and just watching the world go by.

Had a great morning so far. Kippers were fabulous and I’m sitting in my camping chair with a glass of cider listening to the crickets and the birds. It’s so warm here, might pop the the village for ice creams.

May Bank Holiday pretend camping planned here too.

RomaineCalm · 26/04/2020 21:55

We had a long walk along the river and a pub lunch sitting outside in the beer garden.

Spent a couple of hours this afternoon sitting in my chair reading my book. DCs were playing some sort of cricket across the other side of the field with their new friends.

BBQ for dinner with a few more glasses of wine.

Just spoken to DH and I think we might have a May Bank Holiday home camping trip. 🏕

Great campsite!

I am somewhere in Sussex with the silhouette of the S Downs on the horizon. A 'wild' style site, where other campers are a way away, perhaps separated by clumps of shrubs and hedges.

The fire is going, and a brisket of beef is cooking slowly in the Dutch Pot on the fire. We will eat it shredded in wraps with a crisp salad. The Icey Tek has kept the beer Icy cold, we have posh crisps, and red wine for later. Later the Perseids will light up the sky, as we sit warming our toes by the fire and maybe toasting a marshmallow or two. There is silence, no music, etc.

Wake at about 3 am and listen to the soft rain falling on our real canvas tent, go back to sleep and wake at 7.30, where the sun is already burning off the rain.

In the morning, we will brew fresh coffee, have scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast, or maybe good sausages and egg, and go for a fantastic walk on the downs, maybe by the seven sisters, and then a lie in the sun and a dip at Birling Gap.

Repeat for a few days, with a pub lunch, a NT visit, another long walk, some great campfire cooking: jerk chicken cooked on the grill over the fire, lamb chops, BBQ's courgettes, kebabs, garlicky sweetcorn.

No wet pack up! and the chilled friendly campsite will allow departure by 12., or 12.30.

I get a gut wrench every time I think of the season wasting away.

We have a week booked on the north Norfolk coast in June... £6 per night, no leccy, one bog, one loo.

I dream of last year’s biggie. A week in west Scotland (looking out to Jura and Isla) it was glorious.
