Come advise me Porta- potti owners. (TMI and not for the faint hearted)

Life long camper, but never owned Porta- potti until this week.

Student DC is Covid contact, and I'm at high risk , so DC is quarantined upstairs, and gets the bathroom.
No problem, I thought, I'll buy a Porta- potti.

It's been fine. But it now needs emptying.
Thing is, if for some reason there's too much loo paper in my loo, it can take a couple of goes to flush it down. Surely if I empty it into the toilet, it's just going to block? Or can an ordinary domestic toilet handle this?
Have you emptied one into an ordinary toilet?

Very grateful for any advice.

Yes I have. It takes a long time to empty. Tip a little at a time - think the amount you would normally dispose of- and yes it’s small. Then lots of water to help flush. So, if you’ve done 20wees and 10 poi’s that’s 30 empties to empty the whole base unit.

Sorry pressed post too quick.

Also you need to use a lot less roll. Think two sheets max at a time. And it really help if you have two bases - if one is left before emptying it mulches down and is more liquid to empty.
Alternatively can either of you take it in a car to an Elsa disposal site at a nearby campsite and offer to pay? Or try your boat marina or canal Elsan disposal site. You are likely to have to pay.

If you are on mains drainage, can you lift the manhole cover in your yard/drive. Empty the Porta-potti into the drain and follow with a bucket of water?
It's essentially what Motorhomes do on Caravan sites.
You can get (in normal times) special loo paper for camping toilets. It breaks down quicker and becomes more of a 'sludge' than a solid. Cheap, non-quilted, paper works well too.

If you do the man hole trick -(I had forgotten that one) make sure you swill with lots of water - preferably a running hose pipe or you will get a blockage.
Good luck.

Down a manhole is easier than into a loo. Ideally near an outside tap so you can give it a rinse. Are you adding a couple of caps of green or blue additive before first use? and green or pink with the "flush"? They help with the smell but also hep break down the solids.

The advantage a motorhome has is that twenty miles of bouncy roads really helps break up the fresh so that it pours easier.

As pp’s said, would defo use less loo part and go for the special ‘camping’ brand or the very cheap thin loo-roll in the Portapotty.
