Ferry from Hull to Rotterdam

We are hopefully planning a trip to Beekse Bergen however the cost of flights and car hire is adding up, as there is 5 of us and a big car is needed, so we are looking at the ferry.

It may sound like a silly question but can anyone tell me about how the ferry works? From driving on to getting off?

Do you have to check in luggage or does it just stay in your car?

If there plenty of places to eat?

Like a car park that moves. You park up and need to leave car, and luggage. It's parked very tight so can't really go back, they direct you to spot.
Then upstairs is shops and cabins, public areas and bars food places. I think it depends on the crossing as to what's open.. I've only been that way twice.

We take this ferry a lot. It’s very easy, you check in from your car and drive car on the ferry. We usually have a small 'boat bag' to take to the cabin and leave the rest in the car. There is the main restaurant, the fancy (well relatively..) restaurant and a cafe doing sandwiches, drinks and pizza after 8pm. Several bars, cinema and shop.
Once doors are closed to the car deck you cannot access it until the next morning.
You drive off, pass through customs and are on your way, driving on the right hand side of course.

I've used overnight ferry many times. Your stuff stays in the car. (Except anything you need as you can't access the car). Overnight you have a cabin, which has a shower.
Food... Buffet restaurant or posher restaurant. Breakfast there's also a coffee shop (Costa I think)

We often use this crossing.

We book a cabin and dinner and breakfast in the ‘posh’ restaurant.

One of the ferries is staffed mainly by Filipinos and they are fabulous.

The ship sails slowly down the coast and it’s very relaxing.

It is expensive but well well worth it. We’ve been lots of times, there’s even a cinema and entertainment including bingo in the evening. We never bbother with the extra expense of an outside cabin. We sleep amazingly well in the darkness of the inside ones.

I love the fact that we can finish off packing in the morning and then a relaxed drive to Hull.

We have done this 2 years in a row and plan to do so this year. As a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 12 and 9, it is very good and they both love it. We book the kitchen dinner and breakfast and we really enjoy it - bookends the holiday. We did Duinrell last year and Efteling year before, and this year we are trying Beekse Bergen. It is great to stay in the car and all your luggage can stay in the car, minus an overnight bag to take upstairs, any precious cuddly toy companions etc. Then a short drive the other side and you empty the boot into holiday home. Love it!

@UpsyDaisysarmpit it's Beekse Bergen that I'm interested in. We looked at flights to Eindhoven but the car hire for us was getting expensive (need a 7 seater really)
