AIBU to want noise to stop at 10pm

When camping AIBU to want people to stop making noise at 10pm? I don't mean chatting around outside your tent, I mean music, laughing loudly, shouting, generally acting the fool. My husband, I can tell thinks I am but it drives me mad! Tents are made of fabric and when I'm in bed, it's like I'm at their party- I wish they'd shut up!

coolcamping.com/campsites/uk/england/south-east-england/east-sussex/bodiam/183-glottenham-castle

Think you might have the wrong thread there saymo

CMOTDibbler · 08/08/2019 20:51

You have to choose a site with a quieter ethos really. We go somewhere with a no noise after 10.30 (and before 7.30am) rule, and it is very strictly enforced which is brilliant. I love looking at the stars, but I also want to catch up massively on my sleep while on holiday.

RaisinsRuinEverything · 14/08/2019 21:23

I wake up as soon as it gets light so am generally knackered by 10!

GoodwithRocksandGems · 14/08/2019 21:34

I’m in my sleeping bag by 10pm when camping. Definitely a morning person! However, quiet chatting round a camp fire wouldn’t bother me too much. We only camp one or two weekends a year and have had a bad experience only once (stag party). They were sent home the next day by the site owners.

BloodyWorried · 17/08/2019 08:25

What time do your kids get up if up til midnight? Ours slept from 9:30-5:30 and it’s then hard to keep them quiet once they’re up.

Sunshine1239 · 17/08/2019 11:12

Mine get up around 9:30. But I ensure they’re quiet on site til way after 10. Equally as annoying is those who let their kids play footy all over the site at 8 am

Fishcakey · 17/08/2019 17:05

But I bet it's ok for your kids to make a noise at 7am!!!!!

Sunshine1239 · 17/08/2019 18:55

Fishcakey

No I mean mine are not allowed to make noise til way after 10am! Mine are still awake at midnight 😜

stucknoue · 17/08/2019 19:13

It's not unreasonable but then it would also be reasonable for people to keep kids inside the tents and quiet until 8am - and that's why I only go to adult only campsites now. Parents who let their kids shriek running around my tent at 5am grrr! My kids always slept in Grin (not kidding, school days have always been tricky)

stucknoue · 17/08/2019 19:15

@BloodyWorried Keep them up later, then you get a lie in! The dog and I are off to meet friends and it's strictly over 16's, bliss

orangeshoebox · 17/08/2019 19:19

where are you? if in spain - forget it. from midnight it will be bearable...

BloodyWorried · 17/08/2019 19:26

To be fair ours are 6 and 1, and 9:30 was us keeping them up late - they physically couldn’t stay awake longer if they tried. But we’ve not been to an official site yet, always garden camping or staying on land belonging to friends because I’ve not been brave enough given I know they’ll be up early doors (two early to bed early to rise kids). Off to make an investment in a black out tent, though they are the same at home in pitch black bedrooms - body clocks which say morning is morning regardless of how little sleep has been had.

Madfrogs · 17/08/2019 20:39

If you want it quiet early you need to book a site that says so. We are up till 11/12. I’m up by 6am but the kids sleep though till 9/10am if I would let them.

RainOrSun · 17/08/2019 20:50

@stucknoue can you tell my kids that, please??
Late to bed just means grumpy kids at 6am, rather than well rested kids at 6am.
Thankfully, at home, they are now big enough to get up, and do breakfast and TV without adult intervention.
