Depends on the loo facilities...I mean if its a proper camp site with loos etc - then why not!

SenoraPostrophe · 31/07/2007 22:17

is it a wee-in-the-woods campsite then?

you could always take the pill for a week.

lovecamping · 31/07/2007 22:22

unfortunately its a basic campsite. portaloos i think. its on a working farm and there are only 2 fields.

can't take the pill as i've got the coil ...

how would i do it if i was to go? i'm going for 4 nights ... unfortunately cant send dh with kids either as have little baby ... i'd be gutted to miss it however i dont know how i could do it ....

well, you can buy little paper bags (do you remember them from school?) and just use the rubbish bin. it's not terrible.

but can you really not take the mini pill for a week while with coil? I didn't know that.

Perigrine · 31/07/2007 22:24

Well, you could try a mooncup, or chuck everyone out of the tent and change pads in there (if it is big enough) use baby wipes and nappy bags and dispose discreetly.

SenoraPostrophe · 31/07/2007 22:26

no way to a mooncup with no running water!

tampons and little bags is the way to go I think. I did it when in the guides and have no traumatic memories.

gogetter · 31/07/2007 22:28

I agree nappy bags and those feminine wipes. There's going to be rubbish bins and if you wrap it up tightly and wack it in them should be no problem.
You sure you want to go? This isn't a get out of jail free card is it??

LadyK · 31/07/2007 22:28

Ok, all modesty and decorum aside, let's sort this out so you can get camping!

Presume baby is still in nappies. You will have to dispose of those somehow right? Are you using nappy sacks? Why not use those to also dispose of whatever "products" you might need to use?

lovecamping · 31/07/2007 22:29

i'm not sure whether i can take the mini pill whilst having the coil - maybe, i should ask really.

what if i leak during the night onto my sleeping bag ?? sorry i cant believe what i'm asking ...

thank you ladyk ... i'm so ed.

so tampons or towels?? - doctor did warn that they would be really heavy for the first few months.

also does anyone use those compress bags for clothes when camping?? are they any good?

Take heart, lovecamping. Last year we renovated our bathroom and were without a loo for a fortnight - we hired one of those portaloo things!

Would you use a Mooncup? Take wet wipes with you and those little plastic bags, (they sell with the sanpro in Boots.) Empty Mooncup down the loo, wipe out with wet wipes, reinsert, put the wipes into the little bag and you're sorted.

Don't know if you have time to get used to the Mooncup before you go, though?

LadyK · 31/07/2007 22:49

How long have you had the coil? Eventually it should settle down to very little.

And I think if you're really worried about the sleeping bag, go for some dark towels.

debgronow · 01/08/2007 22:22

Agree with other poster, try a mooncup.

UniSarah · 01/08/2007 22:32

I had period in the middle of our last camping hol, it was early and heavey. used a mix of moon cup or tampons and liners. I used tampons and liner at night for max leak proofing. diposed of tampons/ towles in the bin just like normal or with nappys if more apropriate. Was fine, had to wash out knickers/cycle shorts anyway every night as traveling V light. At least you will be prepared.

even if you have the coil you can still take the pill, although if you need to start it for a special occasion really you need to start it about a month or so before the occasion to make sure you don't have any problems with it. there are a few other things you can also take to temporarily stop a period from happening, for a short holiday for example, but you need to get it asap. your GP should be able to help.

lovecamping · 02/08/2007 22:04

thank you ladies. you've all given me loads of ideas and definitely hope to go but DH has agreed that if its really bad, i can not go and stay home with baby!!!
