What food (if any) to bring to France

Off to the Dordogne and wondering if it's worth packing food, soft drinks etc or if it's just as cost effective to buy it there? How expensive are the supermarkets? Thanks for replies

@PrawnoftheShed last time we were there we found a few soya/seitan type ones. But one night I improvised by mashing a tin of haricots with some ready made cous cous salad and harissa and pan frying - it tasted amazing (though probably sounds grim!).

We take:

Salt, pepper, dried herbs/spices (because take up next to no room and I don't want to come back with duplicates)
Tea bags (we buy ground coffee there because it's nice and similarly priced)
Dairy free spread (can be hard to find)
Oil and vinegar (because it doesn't perish and might as well use what we have)

And then I also bring a 'pique nique' for the crossing/ferry, and an emergency meal kit for first night (like some olives, pasta and marinated artichokes to whip up a pasta dish with) in case for whatever reason we are delayed. I prefer not to eat out on the first night as the novelty of the S/C accom hasn't worn off and also if I'm feeling tired from the driving would rather chill and be able to have a glass or two of vino instead of worrying about finding and driving to a restaurant.

Everything else we buy. We love baked beans and marmite but feel like if we just ate as we did at home we'd be missing something!

Tea (if you drink it).

Roses lime, that's the only item I'd take (I'm partial to a larger and lime) . French supermarket food is far superior to what's available here
