Okay having stalked these boards for far too many years and plotted my camping master plan, I have finally persuaded DH to do 3 nights in a bell tent and have bought a Cobb (offa EBay). I am very excited.

Will start to experiment ASAP (that’s Monday’s dinner sorted) but tell me your secrets and top tips.

I think it might be too big to take on my west coast of Ireland trip given we have 2 suitcase and one hold-all for 5 people for 2 weeks and need to bring all our wetsuits. But how awesome would freshly bbq’d sausages be after surfing I. The rain...

Sadly, I haven’t got one yet, but this is an interesting review.

Interesting about needing to keep the lid in when BBQing in order to keep the heat up, and about it’s smoke-free quality.

Lots of YouTube Cobb recipes.

We use ours a lot as a bbq and don't generally cook with the lid on. If we're taking it to the beach we pre-load it with charcoal and firelighters and take a box of long matches. We find charcoal better than cobblestones.

Get over to I love my Cobb on Facebook. Loads of ideas and cobbers

I love our Cobb. We usually cook sausages (normal and vegetarian), kebabs (chicken and vegetarian), and baked potatoes wrapped in tin foil in the moat 😋. We've also cooked salmon.

It's really versatile, we should definitely try more things. We've just started using Australian heat beads, and really rate them. Cobb cobblestones are £££, and inflexible.

Thanks all. Have lost most of the week to the Facebook groups. I am starting out ambitious with roasting a pork shoulder with cider in the moat. Fingers crossed! Have managed to resist lifting the lid. It sounds and smells great so far
