I’m looking for really good bedding for my two children and I.

I like the sound of a SIM. What’s the best brand? And sleeping bag?

I don’t mind spending £££ as want to get it right

Thermarest get a good write up. It I'm after something better than a sim on a folding bed & thinking of a memory foam topper.

Dc don't need as much comfort. I slept on a yoga mat & sleeping bag until my 20s!

I second Thermarest. We have two adult thick ones, a standard one for DC1 and a 3/4 size one for DC2. I have sewn fleece covers for them so that they're warmer to lie on and extra cosy. But they're probably wasted on the DC Grin as, just like Buck , they can sleep on anything. We camp a lot and only ever take our regular bedding as in pillows and duvets, as find sleeping bags sweaty and claustrophobic.

Thermarest are good but there are plenty of good quality SIMs that are much cheaper.

Vango and Outwell are good.

Have a look at the Millets website, they have some good deals.

How old are your kids? They don’t usually need such thick mats as they weigh less.

As for sleeping bags, what style do you like? I can’t stand my legs being cramped, and I like 100% cotton lining so I have the Vango Aurora Grande which is 1m wide and also very warm.

People also like the Oval ‘pod’ style bags. It is good to have 3 season bags for kids, or good 2 season ones. Vango, Outwell, Blacks all do good bags.

Husband recommends a camp bed need to make sure it is insulated underneath so put kids clothes in plastic boxes, store underneath with duvalay topper on to ( get the fitted sheet too so no faffing). He has bought himself some super warm sleeping bag with a zip all the way round so makes a duvet. They are on SK Camping website but he says they are very warm and may be too warm for summer. He also says that camp beds do take up room in the car so maybe you have that. Kids will sleep on anything and in anything. Airbeds good but something else to set up when you are there.
