Camping in France

A bit of a vague post... I'm wanting to take my 6 year old to France camping. It will just be the pair of us and to be honest I don’t know where to begin. We’ll need a pool with decent slides but this is all I can say!
Which websites are good? I seem to look everywhere but can’t make any kind of a decision!
Is it easy to cater your own food whilst on a campsite? Are there restaurants occasionally?
Oh I I don’t want to drive from the airport to site!
Any pointers would be lovely 😊

Most of the larger campsites (the ones with pools with slides) will usually have at least one restaurant. Many also have a takeaway style food outlet which you can take back to your caravan or tent.
Le Ruisseau is just a 15 minute taxi ride from Biarritz airport and there are also buses from the airport into Biarritz where you can pick up a bus to the park. It has a sophisticated set of waterslides.
La Sirene is probably one of the best for waterslides. Take the shuttle bus from Perpignan airport to the SNCF train station in Perpignan, then a train to Argelès (there are about 13 trains a day in the week) and a taxi to the parc. As well as the restaurant and takeaway pizzeria, it has a supermarket with all the basics, fresh bread, fruits and vegetables, and a selection of regional products and wines.

Have a look at the campsites that are part of 'les castels' they are usually good quality!

Chateau Drancourt might be a good place to test the water. It's only an hour from Calais and there's plenty to do in the local area.

It's northern France so good weather not guaranteed.

Another option might be Chateau des Marais which is in the Loire Valley - it's further to drive but doable in a day. And better weather more likely.

There are hundreds to choose from so work out where you want to go and how far you want to drive. Stopovers at cheap motels or campsites are also options if you want to travel further south.

I think eurocamp is a good way to explore where you want to go, even if you then book direct with the site.
