Toys to take camping for boys 4 & 6. No WiFi

Off camping in July to France, small site near on the Dordogne River. Can’t wait. There is WiFi but not in tents (just at the bar)

Looking for toy recommendations from experienced campers. There is a pool thankfully but would love your recommendations for the day time, & also those early mornings when we need to be quiet before everyone else wakes up.

Also are there any toys everyone will not appreciate? I know bubbles are a no no. But what about nerf guns for day time playing?

We've taken a few toy cars in the past, play mobile figures, travel games such as connect 4 and uno, snap, pairs etc. Dobble good for the whole family and even our 3 yr old could join in that.

The children usually choose something new from the hypermarket to play with and use their holiday money.

Stomp rockets are good fun for the day time.

Bikes/scooters

Football..

Nerf guns would be a no- they'd be landing on other people's pitches- really irritating.

We are thinking of taking a mini tent this year and using that as a toy tent. Lego may be a possibility then in the hope that it remains "contained"

I don't normally allow anything precious to travel as inevitably things are shared with other children so treasured items remain at home or the very least, inside our tent..

For this year's camping trip we'll be packing a selection of new (to us!) books of the puzzle variety plus a few story books, a selection of favourite small figurines, a small ball, scooters/bikes, colouring stuff, Dobble, Uno, a few travel pots of play doh/kinetic sand (that have moulds in the pot), and a Where's Wally Find It tube.

We find they only need something to play with when they first get up and when waiting for dinner to cook on French campsites. They live in the pool/play areas/children's entertainment area etc the rest of the time. It is the drive which is more of an issue IME. We rely on tablets tethered to our phones and snacks for that part.

The Emoji game is a favourite in my family, it's a card game so can be played anywhere but you would need to play it with the kids.

molky- great lawn game
Swing ball
French cricket
Scooters or bikes
Colouring stuff
Wit stick- a little memory stick you can load tons of films on which fits into a charging port of an iPad.

Sounds fab Rottnest

LOL sooverthehill my older teen in ‘festival’ mode would be more excited now by a bubble machine than when he was 4.

For those that want to take Lego, you can get this bag that opens into a mat for kids to play with it on, then when done, you just use the drawstring to do the bag up again! They have some different sizes if you have a search on amazon - (toy storage bag and mat).

We take:
Cards
Travel games
Football
Cricket
Velcro catch ball set
Velcro dart and ball target 🎯
Colouring - a table cloth to colour is great (we have a monkey world one which will last for a few trips) lay it out and let the kids colour til their hearts content.
Activity books
Tablets with games such as CBeebies, colour by number etc don't need the internet.
We also do geocaching which gets us out for a walk and the kids love to find the treasure!

I think that's all. My 6 year old isn't interested in figures/cars/trains anymore. Football mad!

We always have a no screens rule when on holiday and camping. To make sure they don't make noise before a set time we bring a clock they can see and agree a time to be quiet til. The no screens thing is amazing as they stop asking for them and entertain themselves much better.
At that age for mornings: little figures, books, colouring books, sticker books, plain notebook to do drawings, Lego (but not a set as will lose bits), army men.

later in day less is more as they can make up games and run around. though a few sizes of balls always good.
