Italian campsite with young family

Hello everybody,
I’m just looking for a bit of advice on the best Italian campsite to visit with a young family (1, 4, and 7 year olds). To give a bit of context, we’ve been to both Altomincio and Parc Albatros before. We loved Albatros.

We currently have a deposit down on Union Lido for 2 weeks this August with Bolero.

We are agonising over whether to go to Union Lido, Bella Italia or back to Parc Albatros. They all have availability and come in at similar prices (Albatros a bit cheaper)

Bella Italia sounds like it might be better suited to younger kids than Union Lido. We do love the pools (beach not that important) but I keep reading all the reviews about the daily ‘scrums’ to get sun loungers in Bella and the sheer volume of people in the pool. I’m not sure I can stomach the scramble for loungers ‪at 9am‬ every single morning! Is it really as bad as people let on?

Anyone have an opinion on which campsite would be the best fit for us?

Thanks a million!

We’ve been to Bella Italia in June before and I’m pretty sure it was at capacity. It is a great campsite if you want a busier place with lots to do. Our boys were 1 & 3 at the time & all the activities and kids clubs made it perfect. The lake is absolutely beautiful and great to swim in which we did every other day instead of the pool. We loved that there were lots of places within walkable distance to get a more authentic Italian meal & the local town is beautiful & you can hire bikes & cycle out by the river.
The pool is very busy at times but we found that after the morning rush to put towels down, a lot of people then went off to do other things. So the pool wasn’t too busy for the first couple of hours & in the late afternoon. Around midday/afternoon it was very busy but also extremely hot in the sun so not really that suitable for our young kids.

We really enjoyed two weeks there but don't think we’ll return as we are more keen on smaller campsites. But would defo recommend especially for families with young kids. We stayed with Eurocamp.

Union Lido is absolutely huge. We prefer the smaller and slightly quieter sites such as Sant Angelo and Residence Village. Also have a look at Pra Del Torri because that has a little fun park area for young children.

We went to a brilliant site just south of caorle (an hours drive north of Venice)

Pra Della torre I think it was. Multiple pools, own beach, choice of self camping and lots of lodges, apartments and even a hotel. Several restaurants, all reasonable and kids club that was brilliant, very few British so my girls had to use their German and French (they were 9&11 and had French lessons at school (after school club) and a German friend they picked up words from prior admittedly). We took 5 overnight stops to get there via Europa parc (brilliant) and Bavaria (girls fell in love with the castles) and 2 overnight stops back.

Not somewhere for a quiet break as it's massive but it was so big you could get away from it, we also realised there was a pool completely separate near our accommodation that most people hadn't found and we had it to ourselves. Getting sun loungers were not an issue as they charged and nobody wanted to pay, as long as you budget for it, it's a better system really because there's never enough. Best bit was an Olympic sized pool as well and various child friendly ones

Thanks RiceKrispie22 and stucknoue - very helpful info. I’ll do some googling on those sites now!
