2 person tent help

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in a 2 person tent or could recommend one?
It’s for a scouting trip, looking for as cheap as possible as it will only be used once or twice and I’m on a budget. My main concern is if it rains and it’s not waterproof enough but I’m not sure what level of waterproof I would need?

Borrow it. If you are only going to use it a couple of times then there is no point in buying one.

Waking up wet in the morning is rubbish. They don't come in gradings of how wet you are going to be in the morning. If it is not being carried then a double skinned one, which will keep the condensation down. If you are carrying it then it is a balance between discomfort due to weight and discomfort due to compromise on condensation and waterproofness.

If you need to buy a tent then second had is a good way to go. Be wary of the used once / as new ones... it usually means the seller went out and it was rubbish so are trying to off load before everyone else realises it is rubbish.

There are review sites like Mountain Magic, Outdoor World that do really honest reviews of camping equipment

Ok thank you. I had seen that tents had HH ratings but wasn't sure if they meant waterproof after a certain point etc. I had seen the festival type done tents or the dome tents with a porch that were double layered but I wasn't sure if they would withstand rain more than a light shower. It will be in the summer but with English weather I don't want to be caught out thinking it will be sunny.

Vango ark that we have are recommended for d of e exhibitions. Ours is four man and quick to set up so you could look for a smaller version.

Csn also recommend decathlon two man pop up tents, mine has lasted years, love it. Popping it down again is another story mind!
Decathlon generally is your friend.

It really depends on the fabric and construction. You don't say what you are using it for, but if it was me I would avoid a festival tent unless it was just for a weekend and it wasn't due to rain too much - that is what they are designed for and band what you pay for.

If I was going for a light weight trip - carrying everything and the weather was sketchy there are high quality light weight tents and bivvy bags. Go down rabbit holes on the internet and check out reviews on Bearbones bike packing or some of the long distance walking websites

Also there are all sorts of trips in between and tents to suit.

How much would you spend on a hotel for two nights?
Spend the equivalent on your tent.

Generally two man tents will fit one person and kit reasonably comfortably and two people squeezed so a four man is a better option depending on what you are doing.

Eurohike Tamar currently £38 in Millets sale with the discount code.

Or Decathlon 2 seconds pop up about £44.

Does this tent have to be carried with rucksack? If so the Tamar is probably better and two of them can split the poles / tent to carry.

Is this for 2 scouts or 2 adults?

Thank you for the recommendations, I will take a look. I haven't heard of decathlon so I will take a look there next.

I have also been looking at the Eurohike Taymar.

It's for me and dd (10 yrs) and we just need something waterproof, easy to put up and easy to carry. I have no idea what I'm doing. The trip is just a normal camp so something simple should be ok?

You will be quite snug in a two person tent like the Tamar.

But as long as you don't need to do anything but sleep in it you'll be OK.

This would be a bit roomier. www.decathlon.co.uk/2-seconds-3-pers-green-id_8378284.html

If you go to a Decathlon store they will show you how to fold these tents down in the shop.
