Hi all, been camping with the family a few years now, and like to treat ourselves to something camping related every year. Well sorted for a warm and comfy night's sleep. If you had £50 to spend on camping gear/gadgets/accessories, what would you treat yourself to?

Bbq pizza oven!

RomaineCalm · 26/04/2019 22:55

Camping cupboard or camping kitchen?

Kitchen stuff - collapsible washing up bowl, bucket, knives, nicer cutlery/plates/mugs?

A couple of Contigo travel mugs?

Windbreak?

Lovely fleece blankets or really comfortable camping chairs?

Lamps, camping heater?

We don't need any more camping gear but I know that I could spend £50 fairly quickly in Go Outdoors. Smile

JellySlice · 26/04/2019 23:09

I'd spend a little more and get myself one of these .

Or an induction hob.

Funf · 27/04/2019 07:57

Fleece jacket.
Coleman liquid fuel stove, so much better and faster

converseandjeans · 27/04/2019 08:01

Electric coolbox

JugzyMalone · 27/04/2019 08:16

If you already have an electric hookup, then an instant pot

RomaineCalm · 27/04/2019 10:04

Or forfeit next year's £50 and buy an Iceytek coolbox. Smile

Fairy lights, you can never have too many!

2cupsofcoffee · 27/04/2019 16:16

Some great suggestions - thank you!
@JugzyMalone - What have you cooked in your Instant Pot while camping?

I'd have a look on Gumtree. I got a 3 way fridge for £45. A Cadac Carri Chef II gas BBQ can also be found there for around £50.

Beachbodynowayready · 27/04/2019 18:32

A proper fridge. Not just a cool box.

JugzyMalone · 27/04/2019 19:36

I haven't taken it with me yet (only got it in October) but im going to do morning porridge, hearty soups, and dhal and rice. Meat stuff DH will do on the fire less well than instant pot could do it ha ha. It'll also boil water and fry food of course so don't need to take the kettle / saucepan / stove. It does most food, some of it a bit of a reach, but I like that you can just leave it.

RomaineCalm · 27/04/2019 23:38

@2cupsofcoffee

I keep thinking out taking our Instant Pot camping. We do an 'all in one' veggie macaroni pasta which would be perfect. Also chilli and curry.

2cupsofcoffee · 28/04/2019 12:33

Thank you all for your suggestions! Have decided to spend the money on a decent cooler box (non-electric), and will bring our instant pot next time we use ehu!

@RomaineCalm would you mind posting the veggie pasta recipe please? I was thinking jaysons mac & cheese would be amazing as a campfire meal but requires too many fridge ingredients

RomaineCalm · 28/04/2019 22:14

@JugzyMalone

Sorry that it's screenshots but hopefully you can see it ok.

Thank you! Looks great

ArtyFartyQueen · 01/05/2019 23:23

A Cobb - best bit of camping equipment yet!

Jellyk8 · 12/06/2019 14:36

A dutch oven - I use this more than anything else for camp food and make some of the tastiest treats! Or one of these Muurikka pans - they are amazing for cooking anything - www.amazon.co.uk/Muurikka-01010101-Griddle-Legs-Steel/dp/B005UN1KNS?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
