Shall I buy this new tent?

My outwell Nevada LP poles are starting to break after 10 years of use.

I love the look of this one, I really like having the outside canopy which I’ve got now with an extension.

It’s expensive though. Are air tents worth the extra money?

I haven’t seen any other tent that gives this outside space - I would point it towards the evening sun and it’s great to sit out in even if it’s not sunny. I will not compromise on this!

I love inflatable tents but as you say, they're pricey (and also heavy!) - but I like being able to put it up on my own and even the kids like helping with the pump. We currently have a Quechua Air 4.2 but it's not got enough living space so we have this on order: www.winfieldsoutdoors.co.uk/outdoor-revolution-airedale-5-air-tent/

A friend had one- very experienced campers only used it 3 times before the inflatable tubes disintegrated.
The owner of the site we were on said he'd seen quite a few issues with inflatable tents over the season.

So far as I can see
Pro: quick to put up, no risk of poles snapping

Con: heavier and bulkier to store, more expensive?, inner tubes are harder to replace than a section of pole.

Agree with above, seen several in the camp wheelie bins. I would say they were only good for occasional camping they are not as well made or as easy to get spares for.

That’s very interesting thanks

I do rate outwell (my pole tent has lasted 10 years and I could probably get another 2 or 3 years with new poles, but I’m too lazy to faff) - wonder if their air tents are any better than other brands?

We have this khyam quick erect tent

with this extension annexe

It's been used at least 2/3 times per year, in some god awful, for the last 10 years!

I can put it up and take it down on my own Grin

I have a berghaus air tent and we absolutely love it. I'm the only adult camping with two children, so I was looking for something easy to put up and take down on my own.

I'm also an outwell fan and have a 3 and a 5 berth tent. Both pole. Love the open extensions which I have for both. Personally I'd go for another pole tent over air. I hear they are a right pain to deflate!
