Reading festival at 35 weeks pregnant

So I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and 19 years old. The baby wasn’t planned but wasn’t stopped either. We decided that if it happened that’s great and if not that’s also fine. Well now I am pregnant and I am over the moon I have realised that at the time of reading festival I will be 35 weeks pregnant. I go to reading festival every year and now I’m not sure what to do. I go every year with my partner and all of our close friends and of course we spend most of our time sat around drinking and laughing. I have obviously cut out the drink and would never touch it while pregnant but being sober at a festival doesn’t bother me. I usually camp in one of the usual campsites in a tent with lots of pillows, a duvet and an air bed. I know that reading also offer a service where they will take your stuff to the camp for you and take you to your spot so that is definitely what I would be doing. If camping with my mates wouldn’t be possible I am open to the idea of luxury camping although that would involve a lot more walking. I just want to know whether people think it’s completely out of the question or whether anyone has ever done it. Please let me know as I’m just not sure what to do.

Lolkittens5 the Op said she was 19, and was not trying to avoid getting pregnant. Pretty sure it's a fair assumption to assume that at 19, she has no home of her own or funds to rent her own place/look after her own children without taking money from the state. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's funny. I'm 20 and own a house. That I bought with my DH at 19

I went to Leeds when I was in early pregnancy and found it hard work. Ended up leaving early and going to a friend's who lived not far away.

In fact, I find all festivals hard work without drink and/or drugs Blush

Many other festivals you could get away with but I don't think Reading is one of them. In my experience it's a much younger, rowdier crowd.

PlinkPlink · 12/02/2019 14:47

At 35 weeks I was shattered and already wanted my baby to arrive. The tiredness was extreme. Nap every single day at midday 😂

I would probably advise against going.

No telling who might jostle into you and kick start Braxton Hicks or labour pains. Or someone spiking your non-alcohol drink?

Eesh the possibilities are hideous.

We wanted to go to Boomtown before I realised I was pregnant. Would have been madness to go whilst still pregnant.

We still want to go but gotta wait til DS is a little older and can go to DGP 's for the weekend 😂

snifflesmcgee · 12/02/2019 15:32

@PlinkPlink they do have a huge kids area now at boomtown (prob still won't take the kidsGrin£

mumtobabygilrl · 12/02/2019 15:41

Definitely not....
and by that time I very much doubt you will want to either

PlinkPlink · 12/02/2019 16:30

@snifflesmcgee 😂😂 definitely won't be taking the kids

@anxiousbundle I don’t feel like I should have to talk about my personal situation as I came here for advice on a completely unrelated situation. I would just like to point out that I might be 19 but me and my partner have a house, a car and both work full time jobs. I have worked a full time 8-5 job since I left school and I am now a fully qualified early years educator. We aren’t and won’t be entitled to any benefits and we don’t need them to be able to support our baby. Thanks for your time and I hope you have a lovely day :)

I think it was around 35 weeks that I needed to go to the toilet every 20 mins round the clock. I've been to reading, although many years ago. The thought of spending my entire visit there in a portaloo is just hellish! You may be extremely lucky and have a breeze of a pregnancy, you have age on your side. I would be really worried about being bumped and not being able to get comfy in a tent.

bubblegumbottles · 14/02/2019 02:18

@anxiousbundle At 19, I was earning 40k a year plus company car and had privately rented accommodation and no debts. Oh, and without a degree and I had private healthcare.

But by all means, do tell me how all 19 year olds rely on the state...

EekThreek · 14/02/2019 21:33

@queenrollo what a coincidence! I wondered if that would be identifying.

@mummylife2018 I'm not sure why you're lecturing me on that? It's not your choice, fine, but it's not like she left her newborn behind while she went off to a festival. She had the baby in a sling the whole time and was in the gentler family area. I said it wasn't for everyone, but she made a choice based on her own circumstances and everyone is free to do that 🤷‍♀️

TulipsTulipsTulips · 14/02/2019 21:37

I wouldn’t- imagine having to wee all the time at a festival! Plus you may need a more supportive mattress and also I would be worried about getting elbowed or pushed by drunk/ high people.

PuggyMum · 14/02/2019 21:42

I did v festival at 34 weeks pregnant.

I camped in the disabled camp though so had a bit of space and a quick exit in case I went into labour.

Our car was also not far from the tent so poor hubby didn't have to cart everything too far.

I'd suggest going on the website and seeing if they can accommodate you in there.

Otherwise had a super time. Just went with the flow and didn't even miss not drinking!
