Anyone have the samsonite pop up bubble? (the one that goes to 18months rather than the piddly little one)

How much room does it take up?

Going camping with ds who will be around 6.5 months and only have a 3/4 man tent so no separate compartments and in a similar vein to a recent thread I want something that I can drape blackout lining over as when I took him camping at Easter he woke with the dawn!

I am so going to have to invest in a 2 compartment tent, but I need to get this trip right so I can convince dp that camping is great for family holidays!

Just a little nudge to the top again before I go forage for food

I'm getting so lonely I might have to leave the computer and go to bed.

i have neither a tent nor a samsonite cot

but felt sorry for you

i have a marquee in my garden tonight, and a graco travel cot upstairs - does that help?

PavlovtheCat · 29/06/2007 22:08

I used a samsonite pop-up cot for under 6 month olds, no good for your lo, my lo could escape from it, althougb we used it until she was 7 months as we were always with her. Did not take up much room.

However, the actual travel cots, do I think take up a reasonable amount of room. Not the actual cot itself but the poles. I have looked into it myself, and have decided that she can just sleep between us!

We had a ormal travel cot in our Argos vis a vis, as well. Not sure I'd have wanted it up in a one roomer, tbh though. no chance of a cheapy tent to tide you over- The Range and tesco all have some, we started with an Argos cheapy (£65 in the January Sales) and have upgraded as we went along

Other alternatice perhaps a separate pod or pop up tent for storage of stuff to free space that way?

Thanks people!

We are off to Cambridge folk fest.

Ho hum, not much yet then, def wont fit a full sized one in our tent! And so can't buy a new tent now! Ah well, sure I shall think of a solution. I'm happy for ds to sleep between us so long as he doesn't wake with the dawn!

Boy sleeps on a karrimat between dh and I , we keep him up late ( 9pm ish), all go to bed together and he then sleeps till 8am +
We all go to bed together as hes a very wriggly 15 m/o and that seems to work for us as he copies M&D and lies down and settles.

Indith · 30/06/2007 18:52

Yeah last time ds just dozed in a sling til I went to bed at 11ish. Still woke up at 4.30! By the time the Guides got up I had made many cups of hot chocolate and ds was having his first morning nap

Ah well I think that unless I can borrow a pop up to try then he will just have to be in with us until I can justify a more 'family' type tent. In a pre baby life I've always been more of a tadpole kind of girl. the end of an era. At least until he is big enough to carry a rucksack anyway

How old is he? Might a first ready bed be better??

Indith · 30/06/2007 19:20

5.5 now, will be around 6.5 when we go.
