a la blackberry wood

i do not want a pool

i do not want "entertainment"

I want offbeat rustic charm pls

I really need some sort of centralised list, as the vague plan is to move between campsites, sampling the continental air and food as we go

Sorry, not a list at all, but I'd love to camp here www.campinglapaz.com/ (Asturias, Northern Spain). We own a house near there so we don't camp but have visited the cafe at this campsite several times because it's just beautiful - right above an amazing beach and the pitches are all lovely and staggered at different heights so it looks quite private. No entertainment or pool, just the beautiful beach and the amazing Picos de Europa mountains about 40 minutes away. The area is fab too - lots to see, good food and lots of activities like horse riding, canoeing, mountain walks, etc.

I know this site used to have lots of smaller 2 star sites. Seems to have more bigger ones now but may be worth a browse.

Found this

ecotour.bravepages.com/

My Mum used to have some sort of thick European campsite book. It was from an organization like the British Camping and Caravanning club. Had thousands in it, my parents like to avoid the big sites and they found it very useful.

Your best bet is to go to the local tourist information office when you arrive on a town that you like the look of - they can recommend a municipal campsite which are usually very clean and friendly.

Or find the towns that you like then look at their websites and links to sites from there.

The red Michelin books are good too.

Where are you thinking of? Can we help look for you?

we are trying to work out if we can wangle 2 weeks leave for dp, it really depends how far we can go in 2 weeks....

we also have to weigh up costs. we are on a budget so small that i can't type it as you will all laugh, but...we want to try.

am also accepting that we may just end up in tenby

Municipal campsites are fab. Basic, cheap and always have space IME. We just rock up.

fillyjonk · 29/06/2007 18:00

yes but don't they have "entertainment"?

am also nervous about pools (2 fearless toddlers who like being cold)
