Les Alicourts, Clarys plage or pin parasol?

My daughter has googled and would love les Alicourts. But it looks v remote. And are they strict about the 10 year old limit for water slides??
I like the look of Le Pin Parasol or Clarys Plage.
Two kids, ages 11 and 9, water slides v important! Any thoughts? Tia...

We went to les alicourts last May, is there an age limit for the slides? 🤔😂 if there is we didn't notice, so it can't be that strict unless it's new. My 7 and 4 yr olds had a great time on the slides! The 4yr old always went with one of us but they loved it. Lovely site, we didn't really explore much as they were so happy pottering round the pool, lake and playgrounds.

Thanks! It says there is an age limit of 10 for two of the slides. I don't know if these are new or not but it sounds as though it won't be a problem.

My kids are happy to stay on site all day, but I like a bit of culture, shopping and restaurants too.... that's the only thing putting me off les Alicourts as otherwise it looks brilliant!

Yes I like Being able to do that too, we were all set to explore a bit, knowing everything was a bit but for one reason and another including illness it didn't happen but we still had a good time. There were two shirt slides that landed in water that would be too deep for younger non-swimmers, it could be those maybe? But my 7yr old could stand and small children were using them with parents. Sure it would be fine.
I like the look of pin parasol too, I think it was the drive that put us off (We have a 1yr old too, alicourts pushed our limits! 😂) I can't remember now.

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 14/10/2018 21:20

Ok that helps! Both mine are strong swimmers. Just the younger one is v law abiding and I thought if the age was strictly policed she might not dare go on.
The site sounds great. And driving is definitely a pain. We are still dithering... been in Brittany last few years and loved it but ready for a change, I think....

I wanted a Loire site, but decided against Les Alicourts for the remoteness reason - and price. I think it looks great and is fine if you do want to hang around on site (nothing wrong with that) but I did want to see a few things in the Loire, and combined with the travelling to the other places in France we went to, didn't want to add extra driving on once on site. Plus, it would have been quite expensive for us (E80- E90/ per night), again, I would have hated to have spent that amount and then gone off site a lot!

We also looked at Fierbois which is on the other side of the Loire, similar facilities but perhaps within better reach of visiting sights. We decided against that one too(!), instead going for a site with much less of a pool but nearer to sights.

Berny Riviere is also supposed to be a popular site with lots of slides etc that is nearer to drive to.

We've been to Les Alicourts - it was a lovely site and it was great having the pools and the lake, however it was very remote. I think we only did one trip out on that holiday. The drive there wasn't too bad.
I'd second Berny Riviere - we went there 2 years in a row. Very easy to drive to, easy to get to Paris, Parc Aterix and Disney. And Merlin's castle. The weather wasn't great though.

You I went to Berne rivière as a kid an it was brilliant. Lots to see and do nearby, we also went to Disneyland for the day from it. There’s some really interesting war related stuff - pretty sure compiegne is where the train carriage the armistace was signed in is.

We also went to SCDF which looks like it’s been overhauled - loved it too.

I’m 31 now and I wish I could go back and do those holidays with my parents again, they were just wonderful.

Thank you for all your opinions. You've sort of confirmed my suspicions that Les Alicourts isn't right for me.

We nearly went to Berny la Rivière last year! But went to Normandy and Brittany instead. Was fun. Will look at it again, but I'm sort of set on the Vendee now.... I think.....;)

We went to a site near st Hilaire de riez- not vendee but not far, it was good too. Think it’s near the salt marshes and stuff.

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 16/10/2018 20:46

Thank you! Will look out for it....

We ruled out les alicourts like others on location. Have stayed at fierbois but it was as a stopover en route down south - again not central enough for the loire.
Never been to the vendee since I was a child. All reviews seem to suggest it's like brits abroad?

millimat · 21/10/2018 22:48

Where scdf?

Saisong · 21/10/2018 22:55

Ah we loved Led Alicourts and did quite a few day trips - Tours, Blois (amazing), Sancerre, Chambord. Plus there is lots on site including bike hire and pony trekking.

Clarys Plage is also lovely and there is more than a few things to visit round there.

reluctantearlymorningriser · 23/10/2018 20:44

We have been to La Croix du Vieux Pont/Berny twice combined with day trips to Disneyland. The site is undergoing changes for next season. As far as I understand, Eurocamp is taking over the site. Some other operators will remain but I think Canvas is gone.
