Where to put 12 month old to sleep in caravan when travel cot won't fit?

We are staying at Cayton bay in a 3 bed gold caravan this summer. My 3.75 yo and my 1 yo will be with us. As I don't want my youngest sleeping in a travel cot in the living area, (apparently travel cots don't fit in the bedrooms)I didn't request one at time of booking.

Has anyone stayed in one of these caravans? If I take one of these double bed guards, can you tell me if they will fit the beds in these caravans? If they don't, does anyone have any ideas what I could use to keep he safe, as she moves about quite alot in her sleep.

Grateful for any input, as we are caravan and camping virgins

Overhead cupboard?

Whoooosh · 08/06/2007 14:39

I have no idea I am afraid but if it were me I would take a bed gurad and if that didn't do the trick move the mattress onto the floor...not too far to fall.

When we went to France one of the single beds in the twin room was removable and we were able to put a travel cot in its place. Might be worth ringing and asking if that's possible.

FLIER · 08/06/2007 14:50

thanks for answers...I had been planning on using a double bed guard until I looked at them in the mothercare site and they say from 24 months-dd has only just turned 1. As whoooosh says I could always move the mattress onto the floor if need be.
Just wondered if anyone had any other thoughts or ideas.

most mobile homes have a cot rail for one of teh single beds oin the 2nd room, call and ask

perpetuaphoenixfire · 08/06/2007 18:50

take out small bedside cupboard and push beds together to make a double, then use spare mattress from other room or loads of pillows/duvets/cushions down side of bed

We've stayed in a 3 bedroom Haven gold van and as surfermum says we took one of the beds out (well stacked it up on the top of the other one) to fit a travel cot in that we hired from them.

Oh and if you lo wants a daytime nap then make sure you take a dark coloured towel to hook over the curtain rail as the curtains as really thin.

I haven't a clue what the caravans are like but would it be possible to put the travel cot on top of one of the beds rather than next to it? We did this once in a trailer tent and dd was quite safe.

Thanks everyone for replying.
I just phoned them. They told me that some beds can be removed so that a cot can be put in the bedrooms, but they can't tell me if our caravan will be one of them. I asked about some beds having bed guards/cot rails and she told me that they also hire out bed guards.
I'm the sort of person that needs to know everything in advance - I don't really fancy travelling all that way without knowing where my lo will be sleeping.
Looks like we'll have to tho.
I'll probably hire a cot when I get there, if it will fit it the bedroom. If not, I'll hire their bed guards, or possibly even take my own.
I know now that I'll worry about it until I get there and know where she/what she is sleeping in
bla bal bla sorry for going on....
thanks again for your posts.

Flier, i would call them nearer the time. They should be able to tell you what unit you are getting before you go.

FLIER · 10/06/2007 13:25

Chippyminton thanks.
I prob will phone them again nearer the time, altho that is now twice I have phoned them and they havn't gone out of their way to advise me either time. A bit like drawing teeth to get any info from them....
